Why don't people post the location in the title?

My friends, this does not mean I don't appreciate all the deals that are posted here. But think about it.

If I even wanted a pair of SoundBlaster Whatevers - and I might! - I'm probably not going to drive to Timbuktu to get them from Craigslist Timbuktu. So I want to screen what I look at. If the post title said WHERE they were at, it would save me a lot of time.

I am probably not going to read a post titled "RUN!" or "Someone should grab this!" Why? Because there is a 0.1% chance that it's within running or grabbing distance.

I'm probably not going to read every post in D&S in the vain hope that *something* is going to be within driving distance.

Got a screaming ebay deal? Great, but *please* put the item in the title so other AKers can look or skip as appropriate.

I, for one, appreciate the deals AND your enthusiasm. Let's make it easier on each other.

Just yanking your chain Tox. I think most of the deal alert post do a fairly good job of this. But what we have is a larger percentage of 'what are these', 'what should I pay for these', and 'I just got these' threads that aren't really alerts to deals. I do find I miss a few that, as I happen to drop in on days later, that I wish I'd noted earlier. Those would have been nice to have an item/local mentioned in the title.

Never have understood it, either. I live at 217 Circle Drive, about the 5th house on the left. Brick house,up on a little rise, detached garage, empty lot next to it, The Mighty Valdez-2000 white Ford Excursion in the driveway..One day, a feller pulled up in the driveway, I opened the window, he hollered back that the folks at the library sent him, was I the guy who was into old radios & TVs ? Spent a nice 30-45 minutes w/him, ended up givin' him a Waterman Pocketscope & a 5" color set...If I'm in an EXPANSIVE mood, you will LIKELY come away richer than you were than when you showed up...

it is my understanding that D&S is not specifically a deal alert thread.

some posts you dont have any choice but to post them in here, if you mention a price you got them for, for example, that seems to get things moved over to this forum.

None of my business (or a rant either), but I may not know where 'Fort Jackson East Heights' is in the USA. Perhaps posters do not know either.

You da man!:thmbsp:

Somebody must be payin' attention...right now on Pg. 1 of D&S there are 8 posts for specific CL items, and 7 of them have the location in the title! Hallelujah! It never looks that good.

As for #8, we're comin' for ya buster! :D

If someone came to visit me from here on AK, they'd find out what "Southern Hospitality" was all about...If they could spend a little time, I'd take 'em to Sneedville. Its still 1960 there-Everything's in B/W, you 1/2 expect to see Rod Serling pop out from behind one of the bldgs. They wanted a memorial to their War Dead over there, but the county is SO poor, they couldn't afford a new American statue, they bought a Used ITALIAN statue...In front of their courthouse, to this very day, there stands this Paisano, complete w/Carcano rifle, luxuriant handlebar moustache, & a "WTF am I doin' HERE ?!?" look on his face... True story. Even an accomplished Artiste' De Boolchit as myself couldn't make up nothin' THAT damn good...(grin)

Haven't found one yet....When my Mom died, THAT wasn't much fun...But it was kind of a relief...She died from COPD/Emphysema, it took about 12-15 years to kill her. Its pretty simple, really...If you DON'T smoke, don't start. If you DO smoke, QUIT. No discussion.

Haven't found one yet....

Don't think I've seen many posts by you Sandy (maybe I haven't been paying attention), but YOU ARE one funny-ass dude! :thmbsp:

...and yeah, I try Tox to point people in a relative direction, where ever that may be! ;)

Post 1000 for the new guy!!!

This is a point I've always tried to include in any of my posts to alert folks of possible gear sales. What's the point in trying to make people aware quickly if the gear is a 1,000 miles away from them?

If on CL, it is EASY since all you have to do is copy the ad title and it typically includes the city.
