Woofer replacement in old Marantz boxes

Thanks for advice. I was thinking how to properly center new foam on cone. Currently I am cleaning old foam from second speaker. I see that you center cone with dust cap removed. On Internet site from shop where I bought foams there is page with Instructions containing videos like this one:
I was thinking to use this procedure with clothespin (is this right word for thing you use when hanging clothes to dry?).
I do have signal generator so I will try to find videos explaining this tehnique.
Thank you all,
Ivo

Well, here are results of my work. I have used method described in video in post above.

First, I had to find right tool. Hopefully when my wife is not at home......

This pot shoud be suitable.

Glue is applied at cone and foam:

Glue layer was more evenly applied, but angle of picture does not show that. Foam was then fit to cone and pressed with pot:

One famous band would say: A nice pair......

I had to remove pot handles to achieve even pressure through pot radius. She was not happy when she saw that..........

Foams was pressed with pots for few hours. Next day foam was ready to be glued on speaker basket.

Glue was applied between basket and foam. First I have used two and then four pegs to find center on both axis, just like described on video. Then I have pressed the rest of foam edge and put some more pegs. I must say that cone was very well centered and I didn't need to slide it in any direction toward pegs.

Pegs were left for few hours, and final result is here:

You can see small wrinkles at inner circle, but foam is firmly glued at these spots.

I have to cut out foam arround screw holes and speaker is ready to be put back in box and tested.

Yes, you have convicted me to try and I am glad that I did;) Woofers are back in boxes and they are working perfectly!

Now, I would like to do one more thing with one box. Here are pictures of tweeter. with two closer details. Paper cone is teared and dust cover is pushed in.

Tweeter works and produce sound. Should I leave it as is or try to fix it.

What would you do to pop up dustcup and to repair tear.

I would not try to use vacuum cleaner to pop up dust cup, as I am afraid that it is too powerfull for fragile paper cone with tear.

Thanks all,

Ivo
