2026 College Basketball

I can't believe my Husker are still in the dance. They are playing so far over their heads that they can't see their feet. The state has gone nuts over them. Fun to watch, huge hearts, and finally healthy. And now we get to play our neighbor Iowa in the Sweet 16. Amaze, amaze, amaze. (To quote my favorite movie star, 'Rocky' - from Hail Mary.
And now you get your old nemesis: Iowa. The Hawks just always seem to be in Huskers' way. My sister-in-law is an UNL grad and I'm an Iowa grad so we have fun sending each other opposing school schwag and grief. But it always comes down to "no matter what we do, Iowa is right there, in the way." I love it. Go Hawks!

This just in : ILLINOIS v HOUSTON : 26 March (Thursday)

GO YOU FIGHTIN' ILLINI, GO GO GO !!!

ps - That's probably the last time I'll send out a cheer for my Fightin' Illini. Good luck, kiddos.

^^ PPS - Any of the remaining squads got any kids from Kenya on their roster(s)? If yes, it / those is/are the one(s) I'll back.

I watched a lot of basketball last week. Enjoyed every minute of it, too.

Nebraska playing well did not surprise me at all. I watched them a few times during the regular season, and even in losses they always played well. Kudos to Iowa too.

The rest of the B1G teams are playing like they should. They're loaded with talent and have deep benches for the most part. Naturally, at this point in the tournament that can change as it's not as if they're the only ones with talent, deep benches and good coaching.

I found I spent way too much time looking at my bracket early in the tournament and decided to just watch the games. I enjoy the tournament too much to pay any attention to how I'm doing in my bracket. It was a distraction.

Tomorrow it starts again, and I'll be watching as much of it as possible.

I'm glad to see Texas in there as well. They're shaking things up a bit. Still, the high seeds are dominating. Duke isn't looking invincible at this point, but a win is a win. They're still there and that's all that counts.

Wow. The Texas - Purdue game was fantastic! Both teams deserved it, but the Boilermakers were able to pull it off.

I watched a few minutes of the Iowa - Nebraska game early, and Nebraska was rolling, but I noticed Iowa pulled to within a basket or two through the second half and ended up winning. I knew that was going to be an evenly matched game too. I would have bet on Nebraska - congrats to Iowa!

The Illinois - Houston game was different than I'm used to watching. Highly disciplined teams that don't generally foul. Houston is happy with a half court game, and that's pretty much how it was played - I expected Illinois to run, but they were fine with the slow pace for most of it.

Illinois went on a run early in the second and managed to hold a lead for the rest of the game. They played great defense, and hit their shots when things could swing against them.

Something that really stands out isn't just the height of Illinois' players, but they are wide. Big bodies.

Iowa - Illinois game has the potential of being another classic. Their only meeting this year was a 75-69 win for the Illini. Stirtz had only 12 points, going 5-18 from the field. Manyawu had 0 points, and Koch went 2-8 from beyond the arc. Surprisingly, with Illinois size, points in the paint were even, at 36 each. The key was defensive rebounds, won by Illinois. If those three can be on track with all other things being the same, it could be another close one, and another cardiac arrest night for me. Go Hawks!

Not to forget, but congrats to the Huskers and all of the B10 teams, and one Big 12 team, ISU - as much as it pains me to say.

Hoping Iowa continues on. They earned the win over my Huskers by keeping their heads in the game until the end. My boys went grain dead in the entire second half, but especially in the final minute and a half.

Congratulations to Illinois. I didn't choose a team to pull for in this game, was just happy to see a few B1G teams going at it on the big stage. I somewhat expected Illinois to win, but didn't expect to see that sort of a game.

I think that Iowa has a great future with McCollum as coach. I see him as a great coach.

Purdue is playing a great game so far - granted, there's a half to go.

Arizona is double teaming Purdue's guard Smith, and you know there's someone on the perimeter open when they do that. Purdue is taking advantage.

I was glad to see the Illini make the Final Four! Hopefully Purdue & Michigan will make it too.

I wanted Michigan State to win yesterday too to possibly make an all Big 10 Final Four but it was not to be.

Yes they are. Tennessee is starting to score some but I'd call this garbage time.

Still pulling for Duke to make it and they should be able to. However you never know, I'm not sure i took a breath the last few minutes of the game against St Johns. Had to go to the bathroom and the misses yelled at me for moving after Duke took the lead
