2220 that develops hiss when warm

Takes a solid 10-20 minutes or more, but I have a 2220 that slowly develops an extra loud hiss in both channels when it warms up. Phono or Aux switching does not affect it.

Feels pretty straight forward but what is driving me nuts is that the Volume affects the hiss, but the Balance does not. When I look at the schematic they appear to be back-to-back so why would the Balance not affect the hiss? My logic would dictate that the issue would be after the Balance but before the Volume...

Since both channels are effected seemingly an equal amount would you be inclined to think power supply?

Are you saying that when you move the balance all the way to the Left or Right you still hear the hiss on BOTH channels (simultaneously) independent on the position of the balance control? But when you change the Volume control up/down the level of the hiss will get louder/softer on both channels.

One more thing, does the Loudness button affect the hiss?

Yes, that's correct. Doesn't the balance pot fully ground the signal so wouldn't it in theory have a similar effect as turning down the volume? This is the main reason I posted about this as once I'm past this brain-break I think I can move forward and figure this out.

The loudness button does not effect it in a perceivable way, but the hi filter and the treble EQ do.

Does the hiss increase at exactly the same rate/level on both channels as it warms up?

This is a tough one. I'm generally listening to music and then the record ends and the hiss is there. I just ran it with no music and my ADD would not allow me to sit there and listen intently enough to figure that out, will try again soon. But, I now do think the channels have slightly different amount of hiss. The left channel is louder. I do feel like playing music causes it to happen faster, but I'm not positive about that.

Reading my original post "extra loud" may not explain it best. It's louder than normal and it definitely builds as it warms up but I'm almost starting to second guess myself on how much louder than normal it is. It's the same type of hiss you would hear on anything with the volume cranked, it's just the volume is only at less than half in this case.
