Accuphase T-103 at home!

Toscaninichus Australis
This beautiful tuner found a new home:

Sorry for the bad quality of the pics, I´m just in a hurry!

This is my first piece of Accuphase gear and I am very impressed by its sound and build quality. Very natural sounding, to say the least.

Gorgeous tuner! Congrats on getting such a fine piece of audio workmanship. Where'd you find it?

That tuner looks very nice, I hope it receives and sound even better!

Please tell us about the 'meter functions' (if I read that correctly). I'd really like to see it lit up if possible ... (hope that doesn't sound greedy, but I bet it looks even better lit up).

Felicitaciones, Guiller!

A couple of years ago, I was searching for my 'ultimate tuner'. I had some money and wanted to buy one final tuner that would last me forever. Well... at least some time. This Accuphase was pretty high on my wish list. So congrats and enjoy!

Many thanks! I bought it from a local seller though the local eBay. The price was fair and the tuner condition is great.

Thanks Rene! Regarding your question, I still have to read the manual. A basic function is just the signal strength, but there are others. The meter was actually lit up, but it didn't show up in the picture because of the camera flash. Perhaps another picture wit daylight would render more justice to this beauty. BTW, it weights 10 Kg! Here there is a bit of data:

Many thanks! My first experiences show that the sound is very natural. I listen mainly to classical music and after having tuned in two of the local stations, I just couldn't turn off the system!

I've never had an Accuphase (too exp!) but always admired their great looks. Yours don't seem to be an exception. Congratulation!

Congratulations guiller! I hope that you are as lucky as I am to have some great radio programming in your area. I have an Accuphase T-107,recently acquired, hooked up to my Accuphase E-213 integrated amp and it is making some beautiful music as I write this.

I also have the Sony XDR-F1HD and have compared these two side by side with the T-107 winning handily. I was very surprised to find that the sony was no better at pulling in weak stations than the accuphase. The T-107 also sounded noticeably better on both strong and weak stations alike with more body, better highs and lows, more dimension to the images, and a greater sense of air around each performer that makes the music sound just that much more real and in the room. Not to mention that the T-107 is beautiful to look at with just the right amount of illumination for the tuning meter and station. The sony is just plain annoying in a dim or dark room because the front read-out is so big and bright even on the dimmest setting. Another thing I found curious is that if the antenna cable is moved or someone walks by the antenna the sony will get fuzzy and the station will go in and out but on the T-107 none of this effects its reception at all. Anyway, happy listening.

Many thanks! Most of the words you use to describe the sound of your T-107 could be easily applied to the sound of the T-103. I am a classical music lover and there are two great local stations, one of them is public with no commercials, and the other one broadcasts long pieces of music without interruption. Moreover, besides broadcasting standard commercial recordings, these stations have some programs with some live broadcasts or recordings of historic live broadcasts. I'm hook to the tuner! Before bringing in the Accuphase, I used to listen to FM only once in a while, but my behavior changed completely since then. I couldn't be happier and I bet you too!

That's how it should be! Total luxurious engagement. I am very happy for you Guiller relax and enjoy that beautiful tuner!

I owned its grandfather (T-101) for over 30 years. Used it everyday with only 1 breakdown ( something minor and easily fixed). Treasure yours and it will last forever.

Good luck with it,
Ray

Thanks Ray, I will! I´m happy that you´ve got a family member there, and a distinguished one it seems!

That's very interesting that your Accuphase is equal to your XDR-F1HD for sensitivity. I'd read that the sensitivity on most was good but not outstanding, although I seem to remember hearing that one in particular was better than the others. It may have been a T-101 but I'm not sure on that.

Looks like we can add the T-107 to that list then. Unless the Sony isn't getting as good a signal for some reason?

I'd like to get an Accuphase tuner myself one day, probably a more affordable model from the 80s.

Congrats, quite a handsome tuner and the stuff is just so well put together. I've been after a matching T-100/101 for my amp but keep getting side tracked. Have fun with it!
