Amazon has the AT-LP120-USB on sale...

Good deal, especially with free shipping. It does the job for the price and comes with a decent starter cartridge too.

This is not a high quality table. I personally would not spend money for one at any price. Unless you are planning to use it for digitizing your vinyl to your computer, I would look elsewhere.

IMO, this deck needs some DIY modifications if it is to be one's main (only) TT

Only my personal opinion of course, but for $200 I would search the local CL for a Technics SL-1300 - SL-1800

And for the same money you could get a U-Turn Orbit that would be my choice if recommending a starter table. Unless the more advanced turntable owner has a particular need the LP120USB would be a major step backwards no matter how much of a so called bargain. As for the 1226 LP120USB reviews it's probably all first time turntable owners, the blind leading the blind.

send me links to these $200 SLs please... :/

Craigslist.

I can't link anything right now, but there are two SL-1300's for less than $200 on SF Craigslist.

They're out there, but it may take a little patience.

Become an AK subscriber for $25 and you can find a nice turntable for $200 on Barter Town.

$200? You'd be lucky to find one beat to death on the Philly CL for under $400.

Even here in the Bay Area where turntables are often overpriced, there are still SL-1300 - SL-1800 in the $200 range, just not on a regular basis. of course, NOT 1200's.

I'm only seeing $300 and up... Probably should check more often but I have other things I want more...

....and here we go again

Yep, the OP was just trying to help out and give a heads up.

So let's get things started -

Is vintage better than new?

Is direct drive better than belt drive?

Is the SL-1200mkxxx the best bang for the buck?

Is Spin Clean good?

Is a home brew cleaner better than store bought? Please explain your home brew...

Is digital better than analog?

Let's get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuumble!!!!         :D:D:D:D

Don't forget "Which RCA's are the best"

Agreed OPs post was helpful. If you live somewhere where everyone wants to be a DJ a SL series while undeniably good is going to cost more. Options are good.

Amazon fluctuates prices wildly and often. I've seen this as low as $189.00.

Tomorrow it could be under $180 or above $250. You just never know. Sometimes patience is a virtue with Amazon, and sometimes it kicks you in the Azz. The Andrew Jones Pioneer speakers were a good example. Wild price swings to the ridiculously cheap to the rather pricey was common for quite a while. Day to day you just never knew what you would get for a price.

All of this is why I use camelcamelcamel.com for items I really want at a good price. I got the ATH-M50x for $129 by using it.
