A pioneer in the early days of American motorsports and founder of Isky Camshafts, Ed Iskenderian remained active in the performance industry throughout his long life.
As David Freiburger put it- he's about the last of those who actually were hot-rodding from the 1930s to the present. The last of the "OG hot rodders".
If Iskenderian doesn't sound familiar, maybe ISKY will. Arguably the most noteworthy manufacturer of high performance camshafts for just about anything on 4 wheels Ed was just 5 months shy of his 105th birthday. The motor I am assembling for my 1964 MGB restoration project will include Isky parts, as have a few others I have enjoyed in the past like Chevy small blocks in Willy's Jeeps.
You can read some of this amazing guy's story here: https://www.hagerty.com/media/news/...2d6c232b922690e0c846a7f6dbb25e821a56f65d6f8f2
Growing up in Santa Monica, one of his main competitors was located down on Olympic Blvd, so I was always aware of Engle Cams.
Isky had a good long run at 104 years. We should all be so lucky to live a high percentage of that many years.
