Any info on Sony PS-2700?

I came across one of these at the thrift store recently, but I can't really find any useful info online, not even an instruction manual on vinyl engine. Belt drive, earlier than the ps-x series (I assume) and.......??? Anybody know anything about this table?

It's obviously belt drive, from these pics. Looks quite basic - no VTA on the arm, removable headshell, no strobe/pitch adjustment that I can see. It would probably have been a moderately priced deck in its time. At thrift, I wouldn't pay more than $15 maximum, assuming it had a decent cartridge and was in undamaged condition. It would no doubt perform satisfactorily, probably last forever, as most of the Jap-made Sony stuff seems to do. Don't think it would be anywhere near audiophile and not what you could call a classic. Can't offer more than that opinion - must admit - have never heard the deck. I may be talking a load of codswallop and someone may say 'it's a fantastic deck!'

Interesting to see a deck advertised as 'new' but with a crack in the lid...hmmm. Course, it could be unplayed and just got damaged in storage or in transit...anyway, the ebay item is currently at $40 boxed and with an unused AT cart. Watch that space. By the time you added shipping, probably looking at $75-ish, so this might give you an idea of what the thrift shop version should run and how much you should pay. If there is a 7-day return option, might be worth buying it while you do some research and give it a spin and return it if it's no good.

That listing on the bay was basically all that showed up when I did a google search and I thought the same thing concerning the crack in the lid.

The one at the thrift store here in New York is in pretty good cosmetic shape and when I turned it on everything seemed to work just fine mechanically. If it was a table that people thought highly of or were interested in I'd pick it up, but otherwise I don't have enough space. So, unless someone tells me otherwise I guess I'll have to pass.
