Hello. I'm fixing a JVC CD-1668, and I'd like to ask a couple of questions to somebody familiar with this old deck.
Does it "monitor" the input signal while recording? My machine doesn't, but following the wiring, I see the output RCA jack is connected to the REC-PLAY switch, and when in REC mode, the output is disconnected from the source signal. The meters keep moving. It could be somebody miss wired it in the past, or some other switch not working. Or, just a feature.
Also, the CHROME-NORMAL tape switch seems to have very little impact on the response (it changes the bias voltage, but the audio playback sounds the same in both positions, or a very subtle difference, not evident like in other decks)
