Cardas or PartsExpress RCAs

Anyone know if spending the extra money for Cardas RCA connectors is worth it? $20.00 vs $7.37. They appear to be similar if not the same. some people call this style Tiffany connectors, not sure why. They are going on a Marantz 250M power amp.

amplified parts has the ones I like, nut goes on from the outside, just like on the ARC SP-3A that I have used them on.

I'd expect the gold finish to last longer on the Cardas parts than the shiny yellow metal that is on the PE units.

The only possible advantage is that the color coding of the channels is more distinctive. Otherwise they are identical.

I've ordered both. Other than the color coding, I didn't really notice any difference either. The plating seems to wear the same. It's pretty thin on both.

Check them both with a magnet once they arrive to determine if there is any ferrous metal involved.

Use the set without.

Can't speak for the Cardas but I CAN tell you from personal experience that the PE RCAs strip very easily.

The next question is - Do you want to hear a difference? Followed by - Does it sound better or just different? After spending the money, most choose better.

I almost always hear the "Different" ..
The "Better can take a while ....and a lot of comparison.

And never spend the money without a return option ..

What a bunch of pikers. If you're going to replace RCA jacks splurge and get WBT's. These are $62 each at PE.

I used WBT's 40+ years ago when I did a radical rebuild on a pair of Dyna MKIII's. They were a lot cheaper then. IIRC they were $20 each. I used four.
