I just picked this up for $20 from a Craigslist ad:

Pioneer CT-F950. Unforetunately, it doesn't work. I'll clean it up (jeez what do people do with these things?) Then I go through it and try to get her going again. I've got a feeling one of the belts is off, but I haven't even taken the cover off yet.

:drool:Woah...what a looker. Wasn't that pioneers top cassette deck as well?. I hope you get it running- well worth it (it even has the manual!).

Check the belts and listen to the motor. Sometimes the motor need lub. I got an Akai CS-702D and replaced all the belts, but still wasn't running right. Lub the motor and it spins and plays.

Well, I just got done cleaning and inspecting it.
1. The take up spool is not turning.
2. All the lubricant is gone or dried out.
I believe the two issues are related.

When I took the cover off I was shocked at how this thing is built. Pioneer spared no expense. The front panel comes off without taking off a single knob or any part of the cassette mechanism. Wow.

Nope the CT-F1250 was the King

But
The CT-F1000 I think was the best but I am biased :D

Yep. It can be a bit of a fussy job. That's why it's important to have good instructions.
You can do it. Just keep a dish close by to put screws and parts into so they don't get lost. You could even take pictures as you go in case you forget how to put something back together.

You could also use an Egg carton. Separate each sections screws.
