Final note: The whole mess was the result of a diver conflict. I uninstalled all the s.m.s.l. - recommended XMOS drivers after all hell broke loose (multiple BBoD crashes, Wavepad crashes, etc.). I disconnected and reconnected the M100 and, BINGO, Windows 10 recognized it and installed the Windows drivers (basically a plug-and-play). Everything now works exactly as it should. No echo, no crashes. I plan on reporting the issue to s.m.s.l.
