Electro Voice EV-4, worth to repair?

I recently got a pair of Electro Voice EV-4 speakers.

- Both woofers are OK.
- Mid-range and tweeter was not working in one speaker both has infinite ohms.
- Mid-range of the other speaker was 16 ohms.
- Foam under the paper cone of both mid-ranges were dried out and I guess both should be replaced.
- Caps of both crossover are within specs, but some of the cables were oxidized at terminals.

I will put pictures of the cabinet, cross-over and the drivers soon.

I re-soldered the voice-coil wires to terminals and got ~8 ohms from the 16ohm mid-range and infinite ohm tweeter.

I broke wires of the remaining mid-range driver with infinite resistance while removing the cone. Please see the picture. I couldn't remove the glue with acetone or other solvents. I think it is silicone and I have no idea how to remove it without damaging the cone.

I ended up with one failed mid-range. Should I try to remove the glue and solder the wires? Do you have any idea how to remove it?

Overall, I wonder what you think about this speaker and if it is worth to get a new driver and rebuild the speaker?

Thanks for your opinions.

FWIW, I was mammothly disapppointed by a gorgeous pair of EV-4s (the early morph, with one horn loaded compression driver, as opposed to the 4A) that passed through here years back. Not great.

The earlier EV Esquires, to my ear, were much superior. Those I kept. Still have 'em, in fact.
