All that for $150?
There's a KT-815 here, but they want $140 for that alone.
Oh well. Time for the garage sales to start up again, maybe this will be the year I find something.

Yes, the changes recommended at FM Tuner Info (including changing out the op-amp) make a huge difference. Of course a good FM station is required.
I liked tuners quite a bit a while back but except for twp pretty good classical stations I really don't listen to radio and therefore I feel I don't need a top tuner.I am going to listen to this for a bit though.Probably do the lights.

The 815 is a very good tuner per FM tuner info.
Doesn't surprise me. I liked Kenwood's earlier stuff, but when they started going digital the stuff I heard seemed like they lost their way bass.

Nothing good to tune in for your D9s, or are those your classical speakers?

The D9s are downstairs rock speakers. My classical listening is done at night in the bedroom through smaller speaks.I like the D9s but the DX9 to me sounds a bit better like a bit more tighter and detailed. That unfortunately is making the two pair of D9s either expendable or saved for the garage. They are just too big for my listening space.Anyway really good tuners are just not really needed for me.I kept one an Aragon 4t2 but even that barely gets used.

I have two excellent Jazz/Blues stations here in upstate NY that make it worth having a good tuner. I listen to the tuner more than anything else.

Someone bought the Kenwood ls-403s (8 inch 2 ways) off craigslist here for $40-$50 and are selling them for $165. They sat for months before, be interesting to see if they move now after a refoam.

Swapping that chip in the KT is probably a great idea. I swapped out some RD5532 chips for OPA2228 and was very happy with the results in a Sony CDP.
The chip in the KT is a 4558 and it could use an update.
