I do agree with what you said... and at times a sales person will recommend that which they are told to push. Then again, when purchasing things in that price range, I have a feeling you already know what you want, and the dealer just gets it for you. What really bugs me, is that when I go into places like Best Buy (or Media Markt when in Germany), often the sales people don't want to talk to me and focus on my husband, or they want to sell me "home theater" stuff which I strongly dislike.
LOL! that's us with places like the bank, accountant, car dealers, etc. They try taking to me like I'm the one making the decisions. I stop them right off and say " talk to the missus, she handles the money in the house".

A lot of guys would think that's a "ball busting" wife comment. It's not. My missus has a much better head for money and finances than I do. Faster and better at math too and I'm an Engineer!

Not that I can't do finances, she's just much better at it than me. Only makes sense to let her do the heavy lifting and I just pick up the small details she may occasionally miss.

Best day of my life was the day we met and she started handing our finances. We want for nothing, have no debt (besides what's left on our mortgage) and can have just about anything we want....paid for in cash.

I'm not a "feminist" or anything like that, but I really get my tail up when people discount women just because they're women.....they may not have a daughter or wife, but everyone has a mother...

This arrangement seems to work well for you. :) My husband and I are both "sigma" personalities for the most part. We keep a joint account for bills which we both contribute to, together with independent accounts for each us. Our rule is, if we want to spend for than $250 for something, we do consult the other. We have very little debt as well. I still owe some on my student loans from my Masters and we just bought a new car, but we did pay-off our mortgage and our credit cards are minimal. We both have positive cash-flow, which is a good thing. Neither of us are engineers or accountants. I'm a foreign language teacher and he is a commercial pilot flying for FedEx.

Thats cool. Whatever works for two people in a relationship is what works. Full stop.

;)

Wife and are both “A type” personalities but we don’t clash like most do, we compliment. We were both military. Prob where we learned to work with each other as A types. Lots of A type in the military, gotta learn how to work with each other there. I have a lot of sigma traits (independent, don’t need/care about other people’s approval, pursue knowledge for the challenge of it, etc) but A dominates me because of what my employment was.

She still serves and this is what I did for 30 years before 5 years ago when they medically retired me:

I would have been the guy coming for your hubby if anything went wrong! Lol!

Do I miss flying? Some of it. But it was time to put down those bags and walk away…

Steven is 56 now, and I know he will definitely miss flying when it comes time to retire. He currently flies the Boeing 777F. He is planning on retiring when he reaches 60, but I think he will stick around for a year or two, but definitely retire before reaching 65. We are planning to move back to Texas and take over his father's ranch when the time is right. At that time, I will probably leave teaching as well. :)

Cool. Triple 7 is a pretty big lady….must be fun to wrangle that one around.

Flying rescue helicopters must have been an enormous thrill. It would definitely not be a good profession for me, as I am afraid of heights! :rflmao: In fact, I don't even like to go up or down the stairs if there is no jet-bridge to get on a plane. A small regional jet is no issue, but like a 747/777. Once I get inside, I feel fine again. Steven has been flying the B777 for about 10 years now, prior to that he flew the DC10. I think he is still licensed to do so. I will ask him... Now I am curious. He is actually home this coming week. :)

Well, maybe you can still teach us a thing or two about farming then. :)

Oh, and my uncle Manny left the Luftwaffe (Bundeswehr), when he was supposed not to fly jet fighters anymore, but rather get promoted to colonel rank and get a desk job.

Greetings from Munich!

A thrill? Sometimes yes. Ordinary men and women doing extraordinary things. Fighting back the reaper with nothing more than skill and the sheer force of will.

Other times: wtf are we doing here?

Some memories that just transcend words, some you could have gone your whole life without.

I’d like to say it was all worth it, but some days….I dunno….then again, the first time you look in someone’s eyes you just pulled out of a s-storm….well, I can’t adequately describe the feeling but you can see what they also can’t find the words for expressed in their eyes.

“Complicated” is probably the best word for it….

Perhaps, but it is going to be hilarious. Neither Steven or I are ranchers... Paul (my father-in-law) has more of a cattle operation, but he does grow a bit of hay. The land around Childress is really not useful for much else than cattle and hay, as it is a bit parched.
