Has anyone ordered R2R tape recordings from the Tape Project

They sound wonderful. But you need a 15 IPS capable machine with CCIR/DIN Equalization to play them. Otari or similar minimum.

I've heard several @ audiophile meetings... can't really compare to anything (not even LIVE - as a live performance has none of the retake, 'posting' options as something PRODUCED in a studio).

You have to have a strong bank account to enter the Tape Project world! I checked out their home page - and apparently, you can't buy just "one" tape! You have to subscribe for a whole series!! Yes, and then there is the cost of one of their tweaked studio machines, or an Otari or RS-1500 also tweaked with outboard amps!

Out of my league...

Oh, they'll sell you a single album, for $500.

Their tapes do sound wonderful, and the per tape price is cheaper if you subscribe, but you can buy quite a few LPs, CDs and/or SACDs for what each tape costs. Add that to the very limited selection of titles ( although what they have is generally very good both musically and sonically), and it's a hard thing for most of us to justify.

'just checked: I no longer see singles for $500, either. A reflection of the success/failure?
