How much did your speakers cost relative to what’s driving them?

I have $12,000 Green Mountain Audio Imagos driven by a $1,000 refurbished Sansui SS integrated after blowing up 3
Chi-Fi tube integrateds.
My $600 Technics Linear Phase SB-6060, which are also transmission line speakers, offer 80% of the performance at a fraction of the cost. I bought these on a lark after hearing them best most of the popular vintage speakers I have read about on this site. They now serve as rear surrounds with my GMA’s through a Sansui quad receiver.

Thank you very much!

On the system I am currently listening to and that I consider my favorite, my speakers represent about 40% of the total cost of the system.

My Allison Twos were passed on to me by my dad and needed refoaming, so the total investment was 80 dollars.
I might have a little over 1600 in the L-09Ms and the L-07Cll.

At the moment:

Pioneer Pax 30G- $20 with custom cabinets

Modified Zenith EL-84 SEP console pull- free + ~$15 worth of caps and resistors

I bought my main speakers for $400 - a real bargain.

The amp that powers them was about $35 - also a bargain.

Overall, my main system cost is about 12% of MSRP. I don't call myself a high-end scrounger for nothing.

Living room/everyday system, speakers and driving amp were aproximately the same cost (and both purchased as kits...Audio Concepts LV Sat/Sub system, and Hafler XL280).

Serious listening room, speakers about twice the cost of driving amp, all purchased used (Maggie 3.6R and Van Alstine Transendence 3).

Odyssey Liquids with upgrades $6000

Plinius SM Mark 3 with up grades $3200
Gargantuan 2 Acoustic Zen Power Chord $800
4 Synergistic Orange Fuses $600

Lol, $50 for a used KA-900 amp (plus say $50 for new caps all round except the main filters, still looking for those).

$300 for a set of Pioneer HPM-900 speakers that are pretty battered, and $50 for a repairable woofer. $25 for new foam suspension.

So about 6.5:1.

Speakers were
2x the speaker wire cost
1/3 the current TT
Equal to the tuner
About 7 times the CDC hooked up
About 40% of the reel to reel
Based on gear hooked up at this time
Amp and preamp belong to my brother. I've only had them here for 20 years or so.

speakers - 100€, TT 200€, amp 300€. made my own interconnects from 1€/m low capacitance (80pF/m) cables. Speaker cables were 14 gauge copper for 0.7€/m.
