Saw this CL ad this morning. Left a message at 8a, left another at 10am. No call back. Try again after lunch, finally an answer. They are up to $1100 if I want make an offer. I didn't.

JBL Speakers: Purchased new around 1981. Have two L222 and two L112. All speakers are working and wood is in excellent condition. Used very little. Sub-woofers need to be refurbished. Foam holding sub-woofer in place is disintegrating. L222 $225.00 for the pair and L112 $125.00 for the pair, OBO. Will sell pairs separately or sell all together. Also have Kenwood components purchased at same time as speakers for sale. Have a receiver, tape deck and amp. Please do not e-mail. (Phone # removed)

So from a total of $350, it's now at $1100?

Bidding in CL?
Looks like that's the trend now.

Oh my! Those 222's look humungous.

Around here, they often get flagged down. Not an auction site.
If no one flags, then it will become an auction site.
It is your right -- nay, your duty -- to exercise... sorry, got me goin' there.

I flagged it, but I wish when you flagged an item you could put in a quick reason why you flagged. I flagged as prohibited, but if CL looks at the ad, it's an electronic item in the electronic section with prices. They'll never know he took bids.

Aside from the "running an auction on CL" issue, that's two pair of speakers that with refoamed drivers would be worth over $2,500 conservatively....

I'm always suspicious when people call woofers "Subwoofers"

Not until they get those surrounds replaced. . :smoke:

It looks like only the passive radiators need re-foam so they are playable in that condition, but if it were me I would look closely at the woofers and make sure the foam is intact, rebuilding kits cost a small fortune and are hard to come by. Usually the foam rots on both at the same time, did on mine.

The LF drivers on both left speakers have gaping holes in the surrounds !
Both refoam kits are available on the bay for about $30.00-$40.00

Yea, I can see that now when zooming in (on the L222's) the little speakers need re-foam too. Hopefully they aren't already damaged, that would be costly, rebuild kits for the LE14's are about $275.00 each.

I had a deal with this guy yesterday for $1100, was told no problem. Call this AM and was told he sold them. I think a AK'er got them.

That sucks, hion. This deal, no deal, is becoming a bad karma, common theme. The whole auction thing..... I hope something else comes your way. Wonder if we'll hear from an AKer? :smoke:

It seems that this seller was unaware of the market value of these speakers and listed a ridiculously low price. After being inundated with phone calls he must have figured things out.

Sorry you didn't get them, $1100 for the two pairs would have been a really good deal.

It would have been a great find at $1100 and a great JBL week for me, I purchased a very nice pair of L101's this week.
