JBL L-112's/Cannon 1230's Refoamed & Reapaired

Wow, what a day. Finally got around to my first refoam job on JBL L-112's and replaced passives on my Cannons. Nothing like wetting your teeth on a pair of quality speakers but with the advice I received here it was now or never. One question, though it's a little late, was the curve on the foam to come out to the front (as I did) or the back? If wrong what kind of problems can I expect? I can always redo them. How long do I wait before I press them into action?
Also replaced the passives on the Cannons an hooked them back up (both sets are going to a Yamaha CR-1020) they were always a fine sounding speaker to me.

You will love the L112's great speakers and on occasion great assault weapons. The edge goes underneath the cone and the roll goes out, you are fine. These were my first solo speakers to refoam and have been a pleasure to own. The 1020 will be a perfect mate for them, great combo used my l112 with a 2040 for some time. Enjoy

My first refoam. Sound great but Judy Collins(!) sure sets those woofers bouncing.
I'm picking up a freebie pair of JBL L-100's this week. Person says he has a couple boys and don't know who tore the woofers. I don't know how badly they are torn but he says everything else is fine. Original owner since '75. Has had them stored for some ten years. Cover frames but no foam, of course. :thmbsp: I need to see which woofer model and decide whether to repair or replace. http://65.219.61.150/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=39345&stc=1

I thought the L100's didn't use foam surrounds. Isn't it made out of cloth or something like that?

From the pics I have seen, the L-100's have pleated paper(?) surrounds. I am hoping that the tears are at the edges maybe separating the cones edges from the speaker frames. Can't imagine even two boys tearing the cones unless they stabbed at them! I may have confused you regarding the foam speaker covers (grills). Hope he still has badges. Will post pic as soon as I pick them up.
