Hello everyone,

I have been looking at upgrading my receiver from a Technics SA-303. I have come across a pretty mint Kenwood KR-6030 for $200 which has recently been gone through by a tech without issue and has all new LED lights and I can demo it. I have read about the power switch issues, when I asked the owner about it he said in the past 5 years he has owned it, it has not experienced said issue. Seems people consider these a pretty decent option otherwise.

Just looking for people's opinions on it?

Thanks

Edit: It sold already sorry as I live too far away to jump on it.

I have one of the 6030 Kenwoods and I love it!!!! I did have to fix the power switch but honestly it was a pretty simple fix.

Just recently acquired a KR-6030, have no complaints so far. One reason I chose it was because I read that it has an amazing tuner section, that it reaches out and magically grabs radio stations. That holds true with the example I have, there is just no ambiguity with this tuner section. Everywhere on the 'dial' I expect to tune in a radio station, this Kenwood KR-6030 finds it, locks it in, and gives me a strong signal. I don't think you'd be disappointed tracking down another one, nice reciever.

I have not owned a KR-6030, but I did acquire a KR-5030 about 10 years ago. I sold it to a co-worker 6 or 7 years ago. I got into contact with him again recently, and he said he and his family returned to New Zealand a few weeks ago. He sold the 5030 to one of his students (he was a professor). He told me he'd used the 5030 almost every day since he bought it from me, and never had a problem with it. I never did either.

As far as I'm concerned, that entire line of Kenwoods is underrated and underpriced (good if you're buying, not as good if you're selling). $200 on a working 6030 sounds like a really good deal to me. A number of other vintage receivers are going for ridiculous prices right now.

Yep, if you still have to pay shipping, you don't want to spend much more than that on one.
