My 7 year old grandson want a stereo

I remember as a kid being given an old valve radiogram. It was a monster of a thing, but my father said it was too big, and I had to get rid of it, so I took it apart and used the components to make up my first sound system in my bedroom and used to play my cassette player into it.

The gift of music can indeed be wonderfully inspiring.
I built a crystal set at age 7 and later inherited my folks' Silvertone console.
However, [this triggered a sad memory landmine]. I'm sorry.

His parents may object to the noise...someday.
My wife and I gave her 13-year-old a nice new boombox w/CD and headphones, and he really liked it.

It had a wake-to-alarm feature.
He set it for 3am one day and cranked the volume up full blast and hid the remote.
He also took the time to remove all the light bulbs from his bedroom's fixtures and carefully placed a pile of school books to trip over in the dark.
After setting his trap, he went to stay with his divorced daddy for the weekend.
The next morning at 3am...his mommy's neck was nearly broken in the fall.

There's more, but I don't mean to spoil the party here.
I guess the point is about ground rules.
BTW, he died two weeks before his 25th birthday. Ewing's sarcoma.
Enjoy 'em while you got 'em...

Perfect!!!

first funny then way too sad. Sorry for your loss.

We have a one and a half year-old that we only watch on Wednesdays and when he comes, he insists on going to the man cave, he points to all the speakers he wants them all to work and in between songs, he gives me the sign for “more”. About 10 minutes ago I texted My Daughter to tell him that I have a new amplifier coming for him to test out next week.

Nothing more precious.

with a compass in the stock and a 'thing' that tells time ?

My daughter in law is interested in hifi. She's not obsessed or anything, just had an interest when she saw a friends record player and wanted one.
I was able to clean up my father in laws Pioneer PL6 ( 80's model) and paired it with an indestructible Sherwood receiver from the early 90's ( maybe 25 watts) and a set of Bose 301 series 2 ( the ones with the brown and tan grills ). I also gave her a bluetooth receiver with it, made it more versatile. They're not gonna use the tuner.

I sounds pretty darn good, better than anything we all started with !

Her parents still had their records ( 80's stuff ) so it makes giving her gifts much easier for me.

Very cool. Nice little setup.

I agree with some of the others that a subwoofer is in order. Need to add a little bump.

Nothing wrong with those speakers though.

How about a turntable? Might be a stretch to get a 7 year old to work a turntable, but hey.. I did it!!

Keep up the good work!
