NAD 6100 monitor series issues

Hi
Saved it from scrap yard.

Pwr on, capstan motor runs 1 second.
Runs after push pause.
Winding both way occasionally.
Push play, nothing happens. Assume the solenoid should be activated and flywheel motor to pull up tape heads.... But no.

All voltages good from supply.

Cleaned some parts.
Manage to loose that lock ring on the reel shaft.
Anyone know what it's called, and where to find?

Not so experienced with tape deck repairs.
Managed to fix my 6300 deck a few years ago though after reading threads here

Tnx

That is probably called a retaining ring. If the info in the parts list is the ID x OD x Thickness, one of these retaining rings might work as a replacement.

From Restoring an NAD 6340 cassette deck

"The minimalistic, cheap, yet efficient mechanism was in disarray and partial disassembly due to the former owner's failed attempt at belt replacement. But luckily the microswitch hidden behind the head bridge raising wheel was still whole, even if slightly bent. The transport was taken apart, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled with a new belt (from https://www.electro-andijk.nl). Replacing the belt involves splitting the mechanism and doing battle with a very finicky spring that has to grab a white lever (see first photo below), then wrap around its post and grab the backplate (second photo). Not fun. You also have to ensure that the control cam wheel is positioned correctly and goes through the right moves when the solenoid is activated: you can find (someone else's) movie of this here, you may want to look at it in slow motion. (Some people advocate not opening the mechanism at all, but rather slipping the belt between the back plate and the flywheel. This of course brings the risk of soiling the new belt with grease. Beware.) The microswitch was straightened out. I also deactivated the tape sensor switch, so that the deck could be operated without cassette, handy for test and debug."

Disassemble, clean, lubricate mechanism. Be totally paranoid about the switch hidden behind the control cam wheel. If you break that one the deck is essentially dead.

If really necessary a retaining ring can be replaced with a short length of thin, stripped, solid-core wire wrapped around the post.

Tnx for replying.

Will continue investigating this issue.
Guess proper cleaning etc it's 1st to do.

Original retaining ring are made of some soft material.
I'll try the wire trix

Seems one of the open micro switches was not engaged. Adjusted and cleaned it.
Decided to change all caps in pwr. Since I've had newer ones laying around.
Might helped somehow. At least now it seems to try to start.

Still not playing.
Pwr on, push pause , capstan motor spins.
Push play, occasionally solenoid activates an pulls up heads and start playing. Same with wind /rewind.
