Not sure if this will help but I just measured mine.

O.D. .316

I.D. .158

Length .513

If you can find a bushing or piece of small tubing or?? What ever as does not have to metal. I will look at a vendor on ebay I sold my Marantz (non working) too as he has some parts for both of my Akai R2R

Look on Ebay item# 310287056698 he has the sleeve and chrome threaded cap nut that holds it on.......Yes it's about $37.00 TYD.

Hope this Helps

Thanks for the measurements.
I am thinking about having one made, maybe sell the rest for less than what is out there. They can't be that much to be made up.
Could make a 15 ips sleeve too then, would have OD .632.
This is my freebie deck, $40 for a sleeve/nut is not quite right.

How did you figure that .632 will be 15 isp?? These were my late dad's R2R. I am a retired Tool&Die maker and still know some shops that I can use their engine lath. Trust me if you have a shop make one $37.00 is less expensive. Plus a threaded chrome cap nut .

The capstan runs at a constant speed (main power Hz dependant).
Doubling the diameter would give twice the circumference, and twice the speed.
You can see that with the id/od you listed.
0.158 ID fits on the 3.75ips spindle, with double the OD (.316) for 7.5ips.
Double that (.632) would give 15ips, may need a pinch roller change.
BTW i bet they are metric, that would be 4mm for id and 8mm for od.

I have one, its froze on though. I was going to pitch the deck itself but didnt b/c I wanted that one part. lol. you can send me a PM I think I can get it loose I just couldnt get it by bare hands.

.158= 4.02 MM

.316= 8.03MM

.531= 13.05MM

.632= 16.05MM

I will call John and see if I can use the lath and I will have to look thru
all my reamers for the I.D. yes I am bored:boring:. I did make a recording on my Revox R2R today:music: Too cold to work on my motorcycles.:no:

Any movement?
i have asked out a few shops to see how much they will be, and reading the fine print one of the bay sellers sells the sleeve for $22 alone. That is almost pallatable.

No MM reamers for the I.D. the reamer is more expensive then purchasing a used sleeve and cap. Sorry I tried.

Did you pull the head cover off and make sure it's not screwed onto the holder? I've had lots of those come through here with the same complaint because the owner didn't know that the sleeve holder was hidden under the head cover. Not sure why Akai moved it under there, seems like a dumb idea.

Hi,

Sure did. That was the deal breaker for me.
Told the PO without it i wouldn't take it. He dropped the price from $20 to free.

I had one

I had one I purchased for like 5.00 at a thrift store. I had no idea what was needed. A little lookie on the internet and found the answer. Strange thing. The screw was there but not the sleeve. People was yelling at me on youtube the sleeve was there. When I posted the video of it. No the sleeve was not. Just the screw to hold the sleeve on. Go figure.
