New owner of Mcintosh MC2300

Hey,
I just bought an MC2300 amp on feebay for $800.00 (pick-up only) it is the cats-meow, I am giddy... like a school girl!! My speakers are a/d/s studio monitor 910's, pre-amp C-28. I was upgrading from an MC2100 amp/MA6100 integrated amp. I am wondering about the gain... wide open, half-open or does it even matter. A friend told me WFO, I normally kept them at half? Just curious, is there was a norm, Steve
(the fans are a little annoying when the music ends!)

Hello Steve,

I use a c29/Mc2100 with 910's. I am curious as to your impressions of the new setup.

Cheers!

I had a similar system. Mcintosh C27, MC2200 and ADS 810's. Later replaced them with Klipsch Cornwalls. Used to run the 2200 gains at about 2 o'clock.

Dear all:

I am using MCintosh MC2300 pwer amp with original power cable, Crown IC150pre amp , philip 850 CD player and Altec seven speaker.

Isn't any Mcintosh MC2300 owner here ?

What is the preamp and speaker ,power cable ,speaker cable use to match MCintosh MC2300 ? Kindy pls share you currect system setup. Thank.
I have one myself. Great amp. Paid 2k years ago and was in good shape. I'm about to have it totall upgraded with all new caps and boards plus other mods. Keep in mind these are going for 4 to 7K currently so I have no issue upgrading it for about 1K. You can use any three prong power cable by the way. Cheers.

I keep mine at about one to 2 o'clock. You want to balance with your preamp, meaning run it where you have room on the preamp to give it juice. UNITY GAIN.

You might not have noticed but this thread is almost 20 years old. The original poster hasn’t been around for almost as long.
But regardless, you might get a response from @Flatwounds if he still owns this equipment. He posted here almost 15 years ago.
