I just purchase an ONKYO TX-6500 MK II receiver, the antanea is broken off and not on it. I have looked on ebay and elsewhere for one. Any ideas where I could find one?

Or is there something else I could hook up to it that would work just as good or better?

Thanks for any help/ $(KGrHqYOKnUE1OjcYQmiBNbZT-fUdg--_12.JPG

Skip the antenna.. Get a decent inexpensive 75 ohm dipole and hook that up. Try mounting it vertically or horizontally indoors or out with a 75 ohm cable. You can use used 75 ohm twin lead tv wire and make one but not usually available these days.

I just use a rabbit ear type tv antenna and it works well for me. Dipoles are hard to place where they function for all stations.

I know it was AM and not very efficient at distance. Could solder in a piece of wire and run it out a window and do better. Night time is better for AM with the limitations of transmitters and clutter... not much quality in AM transmissions that you can't get on FM. Not like in you're in a small town and the transmitter is a few miles away anymore.

That is a pretty generic antenna used on many different receivers, I bought one off of eBay for a tx2500 mkii I had.

I just researched here awhile back and can confirm that. (My TX-6500 MKII same issue.)
Congrats on getting one of these as they truly are something.

If I recollect the tuner section in the 6500 was true top of the line for its day. My 8500mkII has that fm rca plug and I never found out what it was. I'm curious too. :scratch2:

That FM out was most likely for the long-gone quad FM system that never took off. Basically useless for anything these days; just ignore it.

Happy trails,
Larry B.
