Parasound A21+ good bad ugly?

I had to have my A21+ repaired after I messed up and blew out 1/2 the outputs on the right channel. I had it repaired by TMR in Colorado (The Music Room) who did an excellent job. About two weeks after they sent the amp back they were removed from Parasound's Halo service centers because there are simply not enough of the unobtainium parts left to run multiple service centers. All Halo repairs were moved to just one service center, but there are still multiply service centers for their New Classics line of equipment that uses readily available parts (TMR included).

Bblurb from Parasound's website:

"Effective January 1, 2026, all non-warranty repair and out-of-warranty service for the following current Parasound HALO and JC models is performed exclusively at The Tone Garage:
A21+, A23+, A31, A51, A52+, P6, HINT6, JC1+, JC2BP, JC3+, JC5"
If you have one facility doing 5 amps or 5 places doing one each, the parts used would be the same.
I think its more efficient for one place to be the expert. Besides, there are a lot of parts that require matching. Can TMR match outputs? I don’t know, I’m just asking.
As far as parts, I don’t know what amount they have left. There will be plenty left for the future, 20 years for all we know, when the next generation of Halo ++ level amps are on the market that don’t use them.

We’re all outsiders just guessing.

Well, I have to say it's quite unimpressive. Looks like a cheesy off-brand product logo from the 1970's.

I know I sound like Debby-downer, but I'd be surprised if they're still in business by 2030. I guess we shall see.
Hey Debby have another cup of coffee!
:beerchug:

The logo is a P and a d.
Pd. I’m not to keen on it either!

Maybe I’ve had too much coffee, LOL! Yea, I saw the P and D. It just doesn’t look great to me. But hey, no one is paying me to be a graphic artist, so what do I know?

Just a quick note on the Tone Garage. Had a bad channel on an A21+. Turn around times a month and repair, parts and labor, was $975. Communication from Jay throughout the process was exceptional.

Left Channel Output Failure

Work performed / Technician notes:
  • Replaced 2 MDA Fuses
  • Replaced Output FET Drivers
  • Replaced Output Transistors
  • Replaced Insulators
  • Complete BIAS Soak and Adjustment
  • Complete Test and Verification

How did yours fail?

No idea. I purchased it used knowing it had a failed channel, for $1,500, and an opportunity to return for full refund if I could not get it fully operational. With the repair and shipping fees, I now have essentially a new A21+ for a little more than $2,500.
Make sure you pull the power cord out of the outlet before you do anything with that A21+... I blew the right channel out of mine thinking that the power to everything was off when it wasn't and moved an RCA cable and kablooey... $1200 repair
