Pioneer sx-2600 receiver troubles

I recently purchased a Pioneer sx-626 receiver at a garage sale for $4 . It powers up , everything appears to work but one thing . The speaker balance is off , when I swing the dial to full left and then right , I notice that the volume on one channel is significantly lower than the other . The left channel has normal volume but the right is much lower in volume . I thought it was a fuse problem but nada . Has anyone ever had a problem like this ? What do you think is the issue . This is the only thing I hate about vintage amps , especially since I live in a small town . Finding repairmen is almost impossible . If it's not a simple fuse replacement issue you can hang it up getting it fixed in my town . Comments appreciated , what do you think would cause one channel to be much lower in volume than the other ? I actually repaired an old receiver with the help of some techies suggesting parts to replace . Comments appreciated , thanks !

first off would be the simple cleaning of the switches and measuring the dc at speaker terminals .. and the obvious swapping speakers first .

Cleaning the controls is the first step I'd take as mentioned. Here is a thread on the subject:

Checking the DC offset ensures that you don't have dangerous to speakers voltage at the speaker terminals:

Measuring the balance pot to see if it's mistracking requires a multimeter:

Thanks for posting these links ! I never would have located this info on my own . I always heard that deoxit was good . I'm going to give this receiver a thorough cleaning this weekend .
