Pioneer Tape deck CT-F500 troubleshooting

I'm stuck. The unit powers up but will not play, rewind or FF. Changed belts and still no worky. The motor works but is not getting power as determined by jumping the small circuit board behind the deck (play depressed with tape in deck ). I did this by connecting the white lead from the motor to another white lead on the small circuit board. When it was playing, the VU meters were moving but would abruptly shut off (maybe I was breaking myconnection). Not sure where to go from here. Any hints?

I did the belts on this unit before, pain in the butt. I had a similar issue, discovered I mis-ran one of the belts; any chance of that? If I remember correctly it was a 5 belt unit.

I'm going in again. Looks like belt 6 was missing. Was told by the supplier of the kit that this belt might be optional?

I replaced the belts on mine and it didn't work after. It was very weak on ff and rw prior. After changing the belts (except the very involved one) it doesn't do anything except power up. Meters work but no ff, rw, or play. If u figure it out, please post!

Mark; keeping track of the belts on this unit is a pain. Not sure how easy the change was for you, but I basically had to disassemble and remove the entire cassette motor unit section.....gl and let us know what you find out!
