Praise for the Boston Acoustics A60

So during a coffee break at work we got to talk about music and gear. Then a colleague said: "I got a couple of speakers just taking place in storage. You interested?"
Well, said I might be (of course). So the other day he came touting a couple of black boxes to work. I took em home and took a closer look. Turned out their Boston Acoustics 60s II.
Hooked them up to the Sonab r3000 amp. And man, do they sound good!
A much "larger" sound than their size should allow. Looks ok to and I think they have been refoamed too.
Now begins the haggling over the deal with my coworker. I really want these guys :-).

I was always amazed at how much full bass these little guys produced. They rival many 10 inch systems. If it's any help, there's a pair of these on ebay for 99 right now with free shipping.

If someone is a Boston acoustics nutcase it's me, very good little speaker! Try out the older ones too as the CR series were absolutely awesome too and you can find those on the cheap. The VR series, is probably the best series they ever made v20,vr30,vr40,vr12 center (monster of a center 3 way) worth a listen especially for the money *although ebayers seem to ask WAY more them than a year ago*

You think the A60:s might be worth a bottle of the good stuff to my colleague to close the deal?

After some negotiations with my colleague we came to an agreement that a nice bottle of bourbon would be a fair compensation for the A60:s.
I bet there are some US AK:ers around that can give this Swede som good advice regarding what kind of "payment" that taste good.

Deal closed. A bottle of Bulleit served as fair compensation for the A60:s .
Right now Im enjoying a glass of another fine distill, Old st. Pete, while spinning some Eric Clapton on the Dual 601, which sounds really sweet on these Boston boxes!

Refoamed and recapped series II A70's are still in my top 5 speakers (taking price point into account). Enjoy!

I've also had two pairs of mentioned T830's, and my current main speakers are the mentioned VR40's. Boston made good stuff.

Indeed, the A series were all winners and possibly the best bargain in the used speaker market. The A120 was the only oddball, it being the only ported design. Big fan here, have had the entire series, including the 400. They all need surrounds and we know a "blown" speaker ain't worth much ;).
Some of their newer CR series are equally impressive smaller speakers. The CR65 will stun you with their performance.
