Sansui G8080/9090 vs G-8000/9000?

Cursed you are....:) I learned long ago I don't have the ear of a musician when I was a union stagehand here. Setting up for major rock bands back in late 70's...early 80's, any band that carried a grand piano....required a tune for each event. One band that I can't remember now had a beautiful clear acrylic grand piano and was surprised how many bands had them. Anyways....

This same guy always showed up at our houses to tune these pianos. He simply had a socket sort of tool to which he turned each wire to a key. I would sit and watch him....and as he turned the wrench and tapped key...would simply nod to himself...and move to next key. After several keys, he would play a tune...nod...and move on.

As much as I tried to listen and tell any change in tones as he did this....nothing. It drove me crazy trying to figure out what he heard and I didn't...lol. Sooo....maybe it is good I don't have that curse! Besides....a couple of Old Fashions...it all sounds .

Cursed but then it is very useful for my day job, setting up and deploying large format concert sound systems...
I do use the technology, but my ears are have the final say...
This is me today.....Stadium, 60,000 people sold out.........
To give you an idea, 705,000watts of amplifier power driving this system. 30 x 12,000 watt amps and 48 x 7,200 watt amps.....
Its some kind of way to make a living...IMG_7514.JPGIMG_7520.JPGIMG_7524.JPGIMG_7529.JPGIMG_7531.JPG

Sorry to get off topic, well, both the 9090DB 9090 and the G series are some of the best examples of Classic Audio engineering there are...
Let you ears decide!!

Better crank up the reserve capacity at the power plant when that show opens. Sheesh, that's an incredible amount of audio power.and I'd hate to see what happens when an amp like that fails catastrophically. It'd probably be like a bayonet fuse blowing out on a power pole step down transformer.

Holy crap!....I guess the motto there is "don't do unless you overdo"...:) We had the old Cleveland stadium back in the day for bands like the Stones...Pink Floyd..etc....but had a more intimate house for acoustics that handled 20k people. It's called Blossum Music Center...out in the peace and quiet of the country. Loved this place..and heard/worked many wonderful acts there.ClevelandOrchestraBlossom-1.jpg

Thats a cool looking venue!!

It seems like overdoing it, but filling a stadium with full range audio, does chew up a fair bit of horsepower...
