Sansui... the best japanese made !

"So, we need to accept that Sansui was better making amplifiers than Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, Marantz, etc." Jorge
I have a real problem with this statement, again I own Sansui's but this is ridiculous. There is no way that you can prove it and just because you worked in the industry for 30 years means squat. I worked in the IT industry for 20 years and if I had the mentality that the i386 was the best computer system ever made I wouldn't have had a job long. You need to ACCEPT everyone is different and feels that their choice of brands is the best to them. Just because you say this is the best I could sit there and hear and think wow this is terrible. You speak of the 9090 which I would love to have but man they have lots of problems with boards and such. I know of 3 right now at tech friends he has gotten in the last week. He says he sees more of the 9090 than any other receiver. I usually am a pretty laid back kinda guy but when you tell I have to accept they are the best that ruffles my feathers. Talk about why you like it but don't push it down everyone's throats that they again only need to buy sansui amps and receivers. As for their speakers I happen to like them my best buddy hates em. I guess I am right he is wrong and he needs to accept that.....

Surprise! AU-517 buttseks!

Funny how some people get all butthurt over topics like this. Its ALL subjective. Like why I like brunettes over blondes.

My buddy has a vintage Marantz system, receiver, TT and speakers. HE thinks it is God's Audio System, while I think it sounds like somebody put a blanket over the speakers. He likes it, so who cares?

It is not possible to say what it best for everyone.

I have a question for you: Can we say that Nakamichi were the best cassette decks ever made ??
If so, why we can not say the same about another brand ??

Who will stand up and tell me Nakamichi weren't the best ??
Jorge

They were one of the best, not "the best", I would never say any particular brand was the best.......
Personally I have seen, back in the day, more Tascam 122Mk2 cassette decks in professional applications..........
I would say there are "top brands" which for amplifiers would include Sansui, Pioneer, Macintosh, Kenwood, Marantz etc .....none of them are "the best"

Im sorry but the world just doesnt work on such a black and white basis......

I've loved every piece Sansui amp or receiver that I've ever owned, more than every Marantz, Pioneer, or Sherwood that I've had. None of them could replace my Accuphase though. If I could own only one name it would be Accuphase, but Sansui would be second. Just my two cents.

When I worked at the local radio station we used tascam and they were amazing so I don't know how much better Nak's are but I think Jorge you are just trying to get people riled up and starting trouble. This site is All Audio NO ATTITUDE, you seem to be all attitude by stating you are superior to the rest of us and we know nothing. You fighting a fight you are not going to win everyone has their opinion. QUIT trying to sway it and QUIT telling us we need to accept it. Take your troubles to a forum that enjoys fighting over this kind of thing and leave are peaceful neighborhood alone, please.

A lightning strike is a good test of quality. Weeds out the boys. Anyway, my best amp was the Lux 1070 receiver. Just mid-range consumer stuff for me. I enjoy the colored amps very much also. I like my Marantz 2240, HK 330b, and dinky Akai 6300. The main rig here is a Sony STR-V5, but I listen to the Akai m7 mono-blocks for my cheap thrill.

Today, I was running through the recorder amps and the old Concord 884 is special, also. for MONO, I got a Concertone amp with dual el34 and a 5yg that I love also.

The most important thing though is a chair to sit in. After 6 years I got a glider and got around to puting on a CD after 1am this morning. It's already 98F inside so I'll probably have to wait 'til early morning to kick on the audio heaters.

:lurk:

His position is suspect anyway. The AU-517 is nice, bit it isn't that great. We should be both expressing support that he has found his Grail and sympathy for his obvious hearing issues.

After all, let he who is without Sansui cast the first stone.

Luxman and Accuphase are arguably the pinnacle of mass-produced Japanese audio hardware.

The best Japanese stuff, though, didn't - and doesn't - come (generally) from monster conglomerates. Think Kondo (Audio Note), Koetsu, TAD (which is, in fairness, Pioneer's high-end loudspeaker driver brand)... stuff like that.

Nak also made some junk. Next.

This has gone way beyond ridiculous, folks.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to prove BEST for everyone, when it comes to what you hear. It can't be done. No. Nada.

Over.

Ya, there's a lot of stuff never exported anywhere.

Just a quick follow-up note to the op:

Next time you post, try not to leave out the "in my humble opinion" part.
