Show Us Your Listening Chair

Have been using a bankers chair from my Dad's old office for years:

It's been comfortable for hours at a time, but the choice was also driven by the fact I needed something in the room I could use at the desk to work on things.

But the little room is now in transition to purely a music room, so a change in seating is warranted:

Just ordered today. Replica, not vintage. Leather, wood and metal though. No vinyl or plastic.

It will be the central focal point in the room, as long as it's not too big for the space that is.

Should be good and comfy for kicking back and just letting the music flow.....;)

i use a wooden folding chair.

I use a comfy Laz-Y-Boy leather recliner in the living room and a heavily modified Ikea "Poang" in the office (also leather). I'm a bit too large (6'4"/ 300 lbs) for the standard Poang to hold my weight and it also sits too low for me to get up out of, so I added 4" couch legs with angle braces to the bottom and a couple 1"x 3" from the armrest down to the base so it no longer springs up and down. I also put some elbow pads on the arms (yes those are floor mop pads!)...anyway it is now super comfy and I can get out of it fairly easily, it doen't take up too much room, and it is easy to move around. I tried out Eames and Ekorne chairs at the fancy furniture store but I could not get out of them (too low).

I was surprised by how many folks are using the same IKEA chair, but they are super comfy...

What replica did you go with? I see you've posted it in other threads. I'm moving into a new rental and my hi-fi is getting a nice size upgrade and a replica Eames has been on my mind to replace the couch currently being used. I haven't decided on what exact replica brand to go with although I expect them to all come from the same 1 or 2 factories with varying degrees of QC

I actually upgraded late in August of last year, selling off one of those Eames replica with the separate ottoman and getting a taller chair. It's a RowOne Calveri model. Bigger, taller seat (to put my ears at tweeter & midrange height with the new speakers), and also reclines, and independently can drop the top of the seat back. Has slide out storage both sides, and slide back either arm top to reveal cup holders. Even has both USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

These are the same price in leather or microfiber cloth; I opted for the cloth this time. HUGE improvement in both comfort and functionality. That other chair is for me to sit in on the extremely rare occasion that I can get a friend to visit and listen from "the good seat."

A "his and hers" pair of Barcalounger recliners I got off facebook marketplace. Like I said above, I was considering an Eames replica but when these popped up for so cheap ($140 for them) I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

I seriously love these chairs. They're very comfortable and while the headrest is apparent, I'm tall enough that when comfortably sitting or reclining my ears are just above the back of the chair so there's no issues with sound quality. After doing extensive reading about Eames replicas and seeing owners having a very mixed experience with the comfort over their broad price range, I ended up trying to find something similar to these recliners in particular or really any traditional/MCM style, like a Stressless recliner. No need for a lever to recline, I just lay back and it follows my movement and it's just as easy getting back up. The swivel is nice and smooth, I like to twist the chair to get on and off it and I just have to lift my legs. Very easy to get in and out of as well. I'll have to adjust the other chair's swivel so it's not as stiff for the girlfriend to get in and out of it.

I have the same one as pictured below. Mine has already faded from sunshine and washing the covers a couple of times though. But it's so damn comfy I can't bring myself to buy something new and IKEA took it from their catalogue a couple of years ago, which I get because it doesn't because it's not the prettiest design out there.
