Snagged a Luxman R-1050. Need a bit of Help

So I picked up a Luxman R-1050
Great Condition cosmetically and doesn't appear that it's cursed with a bent tuning knob

Doesn't power up is it's only fault but I believe that might be because a fuse is missing. I didn't see any pieces of it when I took the case off.

Read some of the threads here about both the 1050 and its big brother the 1070.One led to a link over at hifiengine where I was able to find a SM

The fuse that's gone on walk-about appears to be F006
and since this post would be worthless without pics, some nudies are attached.My finger is pointing to the missing fuse.

If I'm reading the SM correctly there is only 1 fuse on the chassis
listed as bf0049-2.5a(T) and\or bf0119-5A(????) believe these are one and the same.

There is a note that says F006
2.5AT-220V
2.5A-220/240V
5A-100/120V

what's the difference between A and A(T)?

Of course I don't have a 5A 125V fuse.
I do have a 4A/125 or a 2.5A/250V-That outa work shouldn't it?
(cuz whatcha wanna bet the shack doesn't have 5A/125 either)

So can anyone who has a 1050\1070 verify the the correct size?
for 110\120v

Correct size is 5 amp for that unit. The voltage differences are for the line voltages needing different fuses.
 
Double the voltage = half the amperage. The correct fuse is 5 amp. The shack will have one...very common.
 
Congrats on the 1050 I had one of those for about 8 years loved it and got talked out of it thats a GREAT piece. Your`e going to LOVE it!!:thmbsp:
 
A 5A 250V fuse is no different than a 5A 125V fuse, and has already been pointed out the 2.5A would only be if you were operating on 220V. I have had a couple of those models through here, pretty certain you will be pleased with it.
 
DeOxiting all the controls worked wonders on my R-1050, and is fairly easy to do. Nice to find an example without a tuning knob all torqued out of shape, too.
 
I like my R-1050 better than my friend's 1070, but could live with either one!

No concentric knobs on the 1050, but it does have an itsy-bitsy balance control.

The most critical De-Oxit point: Dolby FM button. Probably from lack of use. :scratch2:
 
So did some more digging as the guy said it just stopped working
well the fuse located at the bottom, on the underside, is for sure gone. They one I'm asking about. Hard to believe it would just up and vanish
Seems like pieces out to be in there somewhere-would hate for one of them to short something
Did the extreme shake rattle and roll and one end cap fell out followed by some serious compressed air, when the other went sailing across my workbench
WOOT !!!

HOWEVER the 1st piece I found is marked 25A-it's likely 2.5 but I can't or don't see a decimal. I'm guessing that someone didn't change the original fuse when switched over from 220V

Some further digging shows the fuse block labeled as 2.5AT-Am hoping this is F006, at least that's the way I see it

For reference what if any is the difference between A and AT? Does the T=typical?

Now if I could be lucky with some more digging and find a 5A fuse in my junk.
I'll be bringing it up with dim-bulb

Mine does not have the dolby board at least I don't believe so-plugs into the black header towards the front edge. Nothing there
 
Well when I got mine, I found somebody had used pieces of gum wrappers where the fuses were supposed to be. So I'm not surprised that yours mysteriously vanished. :D

I got the fuses at Radio Shack. Used to be a place nearby that stocked a wide range, but it closed down (Wal-Mart casualty?).
 
Looks like this one goes on the FORD pile(found on road dead,Fix or repair daily)

Replaced fuse indicated(F006) with a 5A, plugged into dim bulb and she glows brightly
Darn another for the pile. Guess one day I'll get around to fixin some of em to enjoy
 
is there anyway you can spare me the speaker selector knob? i have a 1120 and it doesnt have an original speaker knob! let me know please
