Songs that stab you right in the heart.

Had one of THOSE things going with an ex right about the time Linda Ronstadt did Hasten Down The Wind ...

Elton John: "Curtains"; Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here"; Bruce Springsteen: "The River" All I can come up with now...

This one is based on a true story, and I always envision their interaction when I hear it. And I think about that lonely feeling he must have felt as he watched her drive away. I can relate to that feeling of catching up with someone who was once a huge part of your life, and knowing it will be years, if ever, that you meet again.

"Freebird" I was at work while my wife and daughter were having our Schnauzer put to sleep. About the time it was to happen, "Freebird" came on the radio at work. The first line, "If I leave here tomorrow, will you still remember me" makes me well up with tears, LIKE NOW! I miss that dog so much. Nothing like getting a cold nose on my calf when I came home from work. Plus, she was an awesome watch dog, she could hear people walking near our house on the sidewalk well before I could, and let us know.

I can relate to everything you said....

"If life's for living...then what's living for?"

I really wish there was another clip of this song.
Idiot who put the visuals together obviously doesn't get it.

Steppenwolf-It's Never Too Late

This song ran me over like a steamroller one day. It's a great song about forgiveness and redemption and a nice reminder to love the people in your life.

F-15 Eagle one of my favorites and C-130’s been on to many to count from multiple deployments to Iraq/Afghanistan and taking Hops. That song always hits home to me as well as I personally have lost to many brothers over there .

I was around C130 gunship target range for almost 16 years as well. Hurlburt Field 1st SOG/SOW was just across town in Mary Ester,Florida. The target range was 8-10 miles away.. Heard the 105 howitzer and the vulcan cannons every night. While observing the Spectre's orbiting the target site.

Your welcome and Thank you for your service as well . I was at a COB one time and it was on a hill for our retrans team and the we had Two striker teams and a field artillery team with a howitzer . Our sleeping quarters were right next to the howitzer and I wasn’t prepared for the intense bang at 0600 my first morning there . Crazy times but memories for a lifetime .

Alison Krauss's most EXCELLENT version of the Todd Rundgren classic "It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference."

Stunning.

Also, Ray Charles doing the Leon Russell masterpiece "A Song For You".

Finally, one I can NEVER get thru without weeping is Amy Winehouse's original version of "Tears Dry". Her control and the way she leaps from note to note is unparalleled.

Billy Holiday's "Strange Fruit"
Kenny Chesney's "That's Why I'm Here"
Lorrie Morgan's early songs, especially "I Guess You Had to Be There"
Tracy Lawrence's "Time Marches on"

many others
