I recently purchased this unit to try out on my mono setup. I was looking to replace the 3uF capacitor and was thinking of lowering the crossover frequency, maybe a 4.7uF which we get me around 4k hz or so. I would also add a .4 mH coil the woofer. Does this sound reasonable and will the tweeter handle the lower frequencies? Thanks.

No way to tell what the frequency of the tweeter crossover will be. What you advocate will certainly change the responses of the woofer and tweeter. In what way it's hard to tell. If you're using a textbook crossover designer, those are notoriously innaccurate because they don't factor in all of the characteristics of a loudspeaker.

When you design a crossover, you need a complete plot at many frequency points of the loudspeaker's frequency response and impedance characteristics, among other factors. Here's some design software to help you on your way.
