The Good Morning (Your First Logon for the Day) Thread

Good morning dear friends!

Negative 10° F, 2 feet of snow on the ground, still snowing and 50 mph winds! High neg 5 with wind chill of neg 30.... April fools!*

The real weather is 50° F and sunny, 60. Supposed to get t-storms later today.

Speaking of April fools jokes, I ordered a coffee at McDonald's, even though they don't have dark roast. I used the kiosk and here's the receipt.

Yep! Ran out of ink.

Waiting for friends for breakfast. Not sure what else is going on yet.

God bless you all!
Your April fools weather report could have been accurate many times here in the wilds of Wyoming. Around 1980, I remember a trip to work where at every intersection I had to build up speed in the 260z to bust through the 2-3 foot drifts after the plow had done there work an hour or two before.. I loved the look of the car but at speed you could feel front the car lifting off the ground! It had an air dam on the front that failed to impress. Have fun today!

Weather is miserable here, which make my autoimmune flare. I always check with my cats, as they react to the weather as I do. This is always. Yesterday , a gust of wind hit house when I was putting a record on the turntable, which gave me immediate vertigo, which I can and did stop with my mind. That's the first time that ever happened at the harsh change in the weather, all I can conclude it that the BP change at the house at that exact moment. Though I'm often fine one moment and feel terrible the next, it was cool to be able to verify my suspicions that the weather is the cause of my flare ups. I can tell a storm is coming 2 days away often, granny of the Beverly Hillbillies has nothing on me! lol

Have a wonderful day, as always my best to you and yours, john

I'm not surprised. One of my friends drove through Wyoming on I-80 during a blizzard. He was driving a Ford Fiesta and made it through while a bunch of 4WD trucks and SUVs got stuck. Shows you what a great driver he is! Anyway, I guess it's a fun place to live if you like completely unpredictable weather.

That's different ! Usually they're always out of paper .

Yes and usually that particular one is the first of the 4 to run out of paper since it's closest to the door. However, it was broken for a while and this morning it was working again, but out of ink. Apparently, no one bothered to do a test run or didn't care.

Did it blow out the pilot light on your electric stove?
Yes it did! Since there was no pilot light, the pilot couldn't see and crashed the stove into the fridge and freezer and I woke up to a hot fudge sundae.

Good afternoon all, 67!°F/19°C, overcast, slight breeze.

Just back a little while ago from a pub lunch in Gardner, MA. Today is anniversary of our first date, April 1, 1973, we saw the James Montgomery Blues Band at Fitchburg State College. Good meal (today), but diet Cokes only, she has to work tonight.

Thats all, might be time for an old-man-nap, LOL

Keep safe all

Good morning. It’s 37°F going to 57 with rain in the forecast and, later, 2-4” of snow. The gym is closed for 4 days so I’m heading out to do the grocery shopping after I get a batch of dough started that I will turn into pretzels later. I’ll take those this afternoon when I go to shoot pool with friends.

I had a nice audio experience yesterday. I had stopped buying vinyl a while ago but started visiting our new/used record shop a month or two ago. They started doing these “record flip videos” on their FB page, showing some of their inventory, and I saw a few that I wanted. When I was in the last couple times I saw Emitt Rhodes’ first album in the front of one of the bins. I bought that new when it first came out so I wasn’t immediately inclined to to pick it up but I did take a photo of it and post that to his fan page on FB. Another fan asked if my copy had the inscription in the area between the last track and label. I checked and it didn’t. He said that the ones with the inscription were first pressings and bit rare. I don’t collect vinyl based on that but thought I’d like to have one of those but what were the chances? Well, I went back and bought it, $10, and it does have the inscription and it looks like it had never been played. A great find.

As a side note, when that store first opened a few years ago I was deep into my collecting of 8-track tapes. I stopped in and the owner said he doesn’t deal in tape. We talked a bit and I mentioned that I was also into reels. He said someone wanted him to buy a box of reels and when he declined the guy said, “Here, take them, and give them to someone who will appreciated them.” The owner said that sounds like me so he went into the back room and came back with a box and just gave them to me. I glanced at what was in there and tried to keep a poke face. I said “I can just have these.” He said “Sure” and off I went. It was about 2 dozen factory recorded reels, all from the 1960s: Beatles, Stones, Sonny and Cher, Herman’s Hermits, and more. A treasure trove. I felt like I had hit the lottery. The tapes, and that “Meet the Beatles” is on a 5” reel.

On our way back home from a road trip to Illinois when I was a kid we got snowed-in in Yellowstone.
In August. The next day it was 123 in Las Vegas.

Good Morning,

Cold and damp here, rain coming down and a high of 40. Pellet stove is running.
However, the next few days are predicted sunny and 60.

Mrs. Kid has tomorrow off so we're discussing plans for riding our bikes either Fri or Sat. She has to take her mom to calling hours Fri at 6, in order to avoid the funeral on Sat.

Sunday is usual holiday of obligation. We've been sitting with parents for every holiday now for over 40 years ( all other siblings had the good sense and moved away) . Now we're down to just MIL, a 93 year old religious fanatic...which means every meal is just a time bomb for when she's gonna get on her high horse.

Anyway, I digress....

Not much on deck for today. We're gonna go to the bank this afternoon where we have a CD that's doing terribly. We're going to close that one out, put the $ in our other bank, and when the current CD comes due there at the end of April we'll roll it all together into a new one.

I have some laundry to do.

Not sure about dinner plans.

Hope you all have a great day,
Cheers.

Mornin’ Friends,
We have 60’s, AM clouds and afternoon sun today. I have my bike ride and lunch with the guys today. The last few months ride history is telling and terrible, it’s been about half of plan (3 x 20/week). April is off to a good start and on plan so far (I know it’s only the 2nd). No more waking and baking for me. Back to “pain is just weakness leaving the body”. Have a great day,
John

TMI: My dad died of obesity related CHF at 71 like his mother before him. 6 months after he got a lift recliner or whatever they’re called he was gone. I ain’t going out like that. Priorities.

Good morning all! Our appointments went well yesterday. Dinner on the way home was excellent, and we have leftovers for tonight.

Cool and rainy outside today, good day to stay indoors.

Been doing some IT work on the new Modem/Router I installed a while back. Just checking all the settings to make sure we're about as secure as we can be.

Take care and have a great day!

Good morning! Sunny with some hazy clouds and mid 60s F, going to mid 80s.

Today: order groceries for pickup tomorrow, that's about it.

Have a great day!

TMI:
Skipped the walk to shower, eat breakfast and now will try to straighten out a problem with yesterday's primary doctor visit. I saw his PA-C (certified physician's assistant) for most of the visit and him briefly, but got some confusing words about my metoprolol dosage. I woke up at 4:30 a.m. suddenly realizing that the cardiologist's office probably didn't send them the update after my walk-in EKG in February. Not exacty minor because I developed high pulse rate and palpitations when they took me off daily dose, and they put me back on daily.)
[While I was typing this I got through on the phone, receptionist will leave a message for the doctor to check. Now I can go for the walk.]
