Pardon the digression, but on these John Iverson/Electro Research behemoths, what is the intended use of the "hour meter"? Is there something that requires service or replacement after a specified number of hours of run time?
I'd imagine it's for the capacitors, which have an hourly rating based on temp, as class A generally runs hot they are unusually the first components to go.
Vintage Integrated: The amp i recently purchased and always wanted since in my puberty way back then, also for the specs and also at later age never owned up till now, being my Philips 22AH308.
Vintage Power amps: Pioneer Spec 2 . Owned two but that was over three years ago. Blast from the past! Another fav and actually owned, my two McIntosh Model 2100 (stereo/mono) power amps I had to sell summer 2018 ;-) One other vintage power amp - which I owned till december 2015- a CM Labs 911. I still wish I never parted with it!
Note: I currently own no power amplifiers. I owned many vintage high end poweramps. But not all of course. And because one never knows what the future brings. Although Moneyyy is an issue as is; a nice Audio Research would be sweet ;-)
According to James B, his best amp was the Sumo Andromeda, I have one and is by best early 80s amp, my Heathkit AA-1600 was my best amp until I got my Andromeda from the tech
