Great, glad you got to visit there. Not questioning your choices, but did you know that Akihabara is only two stops away from Tokyo station via Yamanote Line? Personally, I do anything to avoid taking taxis in Japan. Often, unavoidable, but still.

You of course are correct about the placement of those stations. And under normal circumstances I would have done exactly as you mentioned. However on this trip I had an old hip injury come back to haunt me, and by the time I was headed to HiFiDo, virtually every step I would take was pure pain. So..... my wife took pity on me and hailed a cab. The rest of our family took the train and hoofed it to HiFiDo from Akihabara station.
No.... didn't buy anything. This was really a trip to see the sights, and as an audio guy.....I felt HiFiDo was a must see.....

I bought an Accuphase C-260 preamp from them last year, and had them ship it to the US. It was very well packed, shipped fast, and arrived in excellent electronic and physical condition.
I liked it so much I just ordered a newer Accuphase integrated amp from them. It ships Monday. I’m really excited about this!
They’re very easy to deal with for ordering from the US. The only hassle was that both times my credit card company declined the charge until I verified I was making a four figure purchase from Japan. And I had to change the voltage from Japanese 100VAC to US 120VAC, but that was simple with the preamp - just switching around a few wires on a terminal strip which was well marked. From what I’ve read the integrated will be a little more work, but still straightforward

Wow, every step is painful! Many people would have just stayed in the hotel room. You, sir, are a true audio trooper.
Meh, ...... I'm no superman. The problems started here in Japan after claiming our luggage. I didn't realize that we were going to have to take 3 separate trains to get to the hotel over the period of 1.5 hours. So I ended up dragging two suitcases and a backpack up and down stairs , escalators, through long corridors, on and off trains, stand for extended time on crowded train, etc. etc. By the time we got to the hotel my hip was "wrecked". Last time this happened the ortho doctor declared it bursitis and recommended anti inflammatory meds and time off my feet. But we're on vacation and virtually everything involves walking..... sometimes for long periods. If I take time off my feet, then I miss out on activities. This may be a once in a lifetime trip for me so...... gotta' do what I can do. I did buy a range extender (walking cane) to try and help a bit.
I walk some and sit some. After HiFiDo we went around the corner to grab some food. After sitting awhile I managed to walk to Akihabara station so we could return "home".

Rick, if those dealers had any idea of your collection they would never let you walk out the door. I sure hope your hip gets better, that sucks to be hurting on a once in a lifetime trip. Take lots of pictures, can't wait to hear all of your stories in the fall.
