TX-9800 or TX-9500II - Which is the best?

Loz-Pioneer-Nut

..........it`s up to you!
I read and hear a lot about the quality of Pioneers` Super Tuners but, the two tuners that always seem to get a lot of praise and attention are the TX-9800 and the TX-9500II. After a lot of reading and surfing the net, I can`t decide which one is the best (build quality, sound quality etc) so, I would like the people and the techs of AK to give me there verdict and there reasons why. :scratch2:

Ive owned both, but I currently have a 9800, which I do like very much. People praise the 95000 II because there are tons of modifications you can do to them for fairly little money (compared to buying a nice 9800)

However the 9500 doesn't have the flourscan-looking meter, nor the quartz lock tuning. I also thought the 9800 sounded a little warmer than the 9500 II. They are both nice tuners, but IMO the 9800 would be the way to go.

I am certain others will chime in, but the AK search function is a good place to begin: Here
is a particularly relevant thread.

Rgds,

Thanks for that info and the link!! I haven`t been on AK for very long so I dont know my way round the site with any degree of familiarity - I enjoyed reading the link comments - food for thought. I myself have got a TX-9800 but am now after a TX 9500II aswell. Reason? Well you aint gonna get any better Pioneer Tuner than these two and I would just like them both - one (TX-9800) for my X800 set up and the other (TX-9500) for the next set up (X500). Am I losin` it or what? Maybe I`ve just gone like some of the other Pioneerheads on here who love that 70`s gear - Aint No Stopping Us Now - Gotta Polish Up My Act - I Got The Groove!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

TX-9500II is top of the line :thmbsp:
TX-9800 is not so heavy and the outfit is like a mixture, although I enjoy both :thmbsp:

All i can tell ya is that my 9800 kicks ass!!!!! Had the X man give it a good going over ....I sleep with it!!!!!!

Peace
