UPS hosed me or we have a thief in the neighborhood

I found a good deal on a HP laptop referb at Newegg and ordered it. Spent a few extra $$$ for 2 day delivery. Been watching the travels of my new laptop that I was taking back over the pond with me. It made it to Enterprise this AM and on the truck. UPS normally hits my part of town late in the afternoon. At 1800 I checked the Newegg site and saw that it was noted that it had been delivered at 1530 to my front porch. I went to Walmart at a bit after 1600 and did not see any package on my porch then Not a good sign. I called Newegg and they have submitted a claim. Sooooo it was delivered to the wrong address OR it was stolen from my front porch OR it was never delivered and the UPS driver now has a new HP laptop….

Sooo any one have missing UPS packages from Newegg and did it get resolved??? Not looking forward to being out the $$$$ and I was looking forward to the laptop… I did tell Newegg that if they end up shipping me a replacement to send it to my APO address and not my home address..

I rarely have this happen, but it does happen. Once, I had a package delivered and it was sent across the street. About a week later the gent showed up and gave it to me. It was nothing major.

I had the same thing happen with meritline.com and they filed a claim. I never heard a word from UPS, so after about 10 to 14 days, I simply emailed Meritline back and asked them to refund my card (if UPS isn't gonna follow through with the claim issue, imho, it's the retailer's problem).

I would probably use this approach. See if UPS contacts you, or anything happens after about two weeks, then simply ask Newegg to refund your card payment for an item not delivered. It's not your problem.

They'll simply write it off, and if they want to retain you as a customer, they should do exactly that.

I had a package go missing a couple of weeks ago from the front door. After going to the post office and them tracking down the carrier she says she left it at the front door. Turns out it was at the front door a couple houses down the street. It had been there for a couple of days. Many people go in their garage door and not the front door. You might try looking around the neighborhood.

I always have coffee or soda for my UPS driver. He knows where to hide stuff if I'm not here.

I did a quick check of my neighbors and did not see any packages on their front pourch. Will look a bit more in the morn. I hope it ended up at the wrong house and not in the hands of some scum sucking crook...

I seem to recall at least once having the tracker tell me something had been delivered when in fact it was still on the truck. I've had the rare UPS delivery after 9pm, when the driver was running way behind. I have also had packages directed to the correct house number and street, but the wrong town.

I'm usually never home when the UPS driver hits but just recently he and I met. He wondered why I get so many packages from the US and told me wifey explained some time ago to not leave the package at the house if we do not answer the door as sometimes it is client related and if lost for whatever reason it could cause serious problems. As a neighbor is homebound and she also receives a good number of packages we have an agreement that he deliver the package to her and if she was out to deliver hers to us. Well, it is the Christmas season and I arrived home early only to find a hall full of packages. It turns out over time the neighborhood has designated this house as the central UPS alternative receiving center when the person the package is to be delivered to is not home. Some interesting deliveries clearly marked on the outside that the contents are computers, software, gold coins from the US Mint, photography equipment and much more.

Good luck on finding the package.

A common carrier recently delivered a large Sony flat-screen meant for my friends in a local town here to an address across the street from them. It got straightened out, but not without a bit of eagle-eye observation on the part of my friends, followed by some hollering. And some cooperation from the neighbor.

The story ends happily; my friends have their new set.

And--in light of the FCC's late drive to banish analogue video from the airwaves--and after I see what they've got, I decide I have to get one for myself.

Done.

Merry Christmas.

Have ordered a number of items recently and in the past. This is the first time I have ever had any trouble. We have had stuff show up when we were out of town and it sat on the porch for a few days with no problems. If my laptop was delivered, it did not last an hour on the porch.... I live in a stable area with no issues, but you never know who is trailing the UPS truck.

I also have a Brother inkjet printer coming from Newegg. Should get here Friday or Sat. My old Epson work horse died, and I found a good deal on an all in one referb at Newegg. Will keep an eye on the delivery and see how that goes... Someone could end up with a nice printer to go with the laptop:)

My FEDEX and UPS guy puts my packages in the garage. Haven't got the postman trained yet...Old dog I guess..:D

All of my trouble comes from USPS in my town. One year I ordered a big giftset from Crabtree and Evelyn for my wife for Christmas.Yeah, they delivered to the right number, but the wrong street. We never saw the package again.Oftentimes during the holidays, our packages "never make it" to the post office,to have them magically appear during the middle of January.A postal worker there once let it slip that the package just got lost in their warehouse, and it had been there for weeks. My wife informed her(my wife had worked postal in the AF)that any mail held for so many hours becomes a federal offence.
My favorite this year is weve received several envelopes that had been torn open, and repackaged with a USPS envelope, but with no card or letter inside.I guess someone was looking for giftcards or money.

They shouldn't have left something that valuable on your porch in the first place!
UPS left a $700.00 Yaesu shortwave radio on my porch. It was stolen. This happened years ago when the driver would leave a note on the tracking about the package. The tracking said "released to the front door bush"...no s^%t! God I was mad.

Had a UPS driver leave a NIB virgin Steyer AUG Rifle by the front door of a place I was living despite the fact tha it had tags saying that an adult signature was required to release the package.
My house was also on a local school bus route and I had kids loitering around; thankfully I realized and went out to get it before it dissapeared.

Mine was also signed by left at front door!

Normally we have the garage door up, but with the Daughters car in there and crap packed all over the place we have been leaving it shut. When it is open they do leave the "stuff” by the door into the house in the garage. A much safer location than the porch. We will see where this goes.

I am in "USB" port hell at work as the FED GOV has blocked (at least DA has) ALL the "USB" ports on ALL of the computers world wide. Seems that the “recycled / boot.com” infection made its way into the secured computer systems and we now have NO “USB” ports as a result. Seems it snuck in on the back of a “USB” thumb drive…

Makes it a pain to DL your pics from your camera. Our IM folks have set up a stand-alone computer (off of the net) to do this. You have to give them your camera, “USB” cable and a disk. They check the memory card and them burn your pics to your CD.

I also just recently broke down and purchased a JVC Minicam with a 30 GIG HD. That also requires that you use a “USB” port to DL your movies. I was going to use the laptop to do all my pic and movie DLing and cut out the middle man

Now I will have to use one of the laptops that my buddy has until I get this thing ironed out.

The blame falls squarely on the company you purchased the item from. They were trying to save 2.00 buy not requiring a signature. The UPS guy was only doing what they were paid to do.

Not often I defend USP but in this case I will.

I'm with Grumpy on this; anything of substantial value should require an adult signature AND be insured for the full amount paid.

As others have stated, should UPS not find your carton, you need to consider filing a claim with your CC company for non delivery of goods. But I would call NewEgg and explain the situation and ask them to ship a replacement (with signature required) at no charge; why should you wait any longer because of issues with the delivery system???

with the poor economy theft is on the rise.
seen on the news where some guy's packages went missing.(more than once) he set up dumby packages and a camera. caught a lady jumping out of her car and scooping up his parcels.
