Its Like a Jungle Sometimes; It makes me Wonder
All 750mw of it (Actually measured it at 1 watt (1000mw..!)
Also it is my first scratch-built amp - So after literally 2+ decades of semi- learning how to repair tube stuff, several strip-down-to-each part and re-assemble rebuilds of Heath and Fisher and the like, and gathering parts, I actually cut some metal......
Sounds really good. I Mean Really good. I am sure a part of it is psychological pre-load of hearing wonderful music because I built it. I have yet to develop critical or trained ears to really objectively / subjectively evaluate them - I have them playing through open baffle coaxial University 6201's - AND amazed at the fidelity and bass / imaging etc & so forth from the speakers as well.
I used the Daneliek schematic from Sound Practices Magazine.
Tubes and output transformers (Edcor XSE 15w) came courtesy of a trade with G Kaufman, Power transformer and choke and invaluable advice on using PSDU came from Tom Bavis, and the chassis was pulled from the basement workshop of the passed father of one of my oldest friends, who was a pioneer in Electron Microscopes - lots of good metal bits were there...
Due to the location the output transformers ended up in, I soldered the binding posts directly to the secondary lugs of the OPT's - and -Hey-Ho! it is exactly the same spacing as a dual banana plug!

The can on the top is a dual 5.5uf / 400v oil cap - made by Tobe Deutschmann of Canton Mass - ancestor of Tandy / Radio Shack, I believe. And 'Deutschmann' is a family name of mine, so that helps the imaging and PRAT, I am sure......
This is the first SE amp I have really had the chance to listen to at length, and get some feedback on the 'system at the recent Clinton, Mass 'Frankenfest' - I think it was well received. Guess there really IS something to this flea-watt SET game. Which is really the main reason I built this. And also to get some experience with parts layout, mounting, wiring.... What a bear!
On to 45 and 2A3 and 807's and ?? SE amps!
- Tweaking / testing the power supply before mounting;
