What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

still enjoying their company - helping to care for them at 95 and 97 is a complex labor of love; it requires a lot of patience but is rooted in devotion
You sir are a Saint! My mother passed from complications of dementia six years ago. I don’t wish that ordeal on anyone! My 87 year old father lives with us and is doing great. In fact, he just got his new California driver’s license yesterday.

I kept both independent long as possible in their own home until six months ago.
Dad's Alzheimer's and dementia was wearing Mom down so I got them out of their home and into a nice assisted living facility. I still am engaged almost daily as it's assistance and not really one-on-one full care. Mom is slowly progressing toward Alzheimer's as well since falling and fracturing her femur a month ago. I believe the anesthesia furthered her along as she was sharper than ever before.
Took Mom in for follow up on her surgery yesterday and ended up in ER w/ her having a catheter inserted (long story). So, yeah, being the primary (almost only) care giver (no other siblings as my older Bro passed on a while back) I mostly have my days accounted for. But.........I'm always here for them as they were always there for me.

Yeah, Dad was driving until about a year ago (at 96 y.o.). I would ride with him every coupla months just to be sure - then the Alzheimer's started and he no longer could be trusted. It's hard for them to give up the keys (and their) freedom.

It’s a long hard road for sure. I was fortunate to get my mom into a great skilled nursing facility that was a God send. I hired an advocate that was able to maneuver California’s complicated Medi-Cal program. Best money I ever spent! She was well taken care of for five years until she passed…
Kudos to you my friend!
