What did I find at the front door today

That is indeed something too, I did notice that, but I figured I'd just use a Gold sharpie on it...

You are indeed correct Eric, but it wasn't what was bothering me...

I do have the Bezel for the 2205, not sure where it ended up when I moved though....its in a box somewhere

CORRECT!! You got it Tony, you have a keen eye!!

Yeah from when I got it out of the box, I was looking at it thinking something was out of balance.....

I have indeed corrected it, and all is well, I'll get a gold sharpie and fix that Bezel too...

Don't know how I missed that but the smaller knob on the volume should've jumped right out at me.

The C32 is more familiar to me which used a much smaller MODE selector knob than that used on the C33 and I had assumed the larger knobs were all the same size on the C33 & C34.

Now I know better! :)

I broke my rule, I bought off eBay, I was very careful to select a seller. I found a nice chap with a C33.
He didn't have the packing carton, so I bought one from AC and had it sent to him.
Well, my C33 arrived safe and sound and in the order you'd expect from a daily driver...Its a nice clean unit, and although I will convert it to 240V operation, for now, I just couldn't wait, so I got one of my step down transformers and installed it into the music room system....
YEAH!! Its great!! Actually sounds a LOT like the C40 I had but possibly a bit creamier, I love it!!
So it drives a Lake Contour processor, then the MC2205 drives the JBL L7's and the QSC Powerlight 1.8 drives the Cerwin Vega subs...
Its a kick ass system!!

Congrats, Kev! A beauty!

I was convinced you'd be the first one to notice that, but I am also not surprised Tony got it.........
We'll let you off for being more familiar with the C32...also a fine McIntosh Pre-amp..

I have a C34V. Your problem is simple to correct. Exchange the volume knob and mode knob and it will then be correct. Someone removed them and put them back the wrong way. The first run C34V's looked exactly like the C33 except for the wording on the glass. They shared the same longer knob length. The knobs shortened later.

Absolutely, I thought something was wrong so I looked at the brochure and could see as you rightly point out, that Mode selector and Volume knobs had been incorrectly put on, probably after a new glass panel was fittled or something.....
I corrected it as soon as I realized what had been done...

Nice acquisition Kev. It's great when a new toy shows up on your doorstep. And considering where you live, anything from Mc is indeed exciting.
I wish I had somewhere to put a second system but I'm grateful for my one dedicated room. Thanks for sharing.

Two awesome McIntosh systems in your hemisphere. Makes you the Bees Knees of Mc men. Congrats.

Yes, I feel very lucky and I am very very happy with it, I really like the sound of it, so fat and creamy but with incredible detail......

Indeed, you know it!! I was just as excited as when I got the C48 and all the newer stuff....the C33 is a classic, I rate it very highly...
I just wish my friend was still alive so he could build me some more nice mahogany cabinets like he made for the MC2205......

This is making me wonder if my Marantz 7C is good enough.

Well, Congratz! Enjoy!

Yes well, only you can answer that question.....I had a feeling I really needed this, so I went for it....
No regrets at all, and i am kind of glad I ended up selling the C40 that I should never have sold, because now I have this marvelous C33 which has more character in the sound.....
It also matches the MC2205 and MR80 nicely too....

Beautiful pre amp! Congrats on acquiring it! Nice feeling to have a system complete as you invisioned it.
Cheers!
