What is the longest USB cable length I can use from my computer to a DAC?

What is the maximum USB cable length I can use to get from my computer to my integrated amp/DAC that is across the room?

I should say. If DAC next to computer can run RCA wires to integrated amp. I would think that would be more efficient.

Officially the maximum supported length of a USB cable is ~5 metres. However, I've extended them a lot longer than this in the past. So my answer would be "as long as you can go until it stops working". If you buy a half-decent shielded USB cable I reckon you'll get away with 10 metres.

One problem is finding long USB cables or if you do very expensive. RCA cables are cheaper easier.

The way my home office is set up. Don't have room for my Peachtree amp next to the computer. I am good since 15 feet will be plenty. Currently using a bluetooth receiver with optical out and just wanted to try it a different way. Thanks to all!

I plug in 50 feet from Computer to my Amplifier. Right out of my Computer to my Amplifier using proper plug in stereo at Computer and adapter at Stereo end consisting of left and right RCA's out of adapter a other end.Works good for me and all for under 30

I have a 3 meter pangea usb cable and with some daca it fails and with some others it works fine. Even when it works though it's a little shaky.
