A newly restored RT-707 can sell for $2k on the Bay, but I think the seller would be lucky to get 1/3 of the asking price if selling as a package. Unfortunately, I think you're right that nobody is going to want individual components that are painted red, even if the seller did spend $16,000 to do it. At that price, one would assume they were well-to-do enough to not care about what it did to the value of the components. And a vintage Technics enthusiast (presumably there are such people), if buying a complete system, would want the panels in the original color.

I actually really lusted over the Technics "pro series" when I was younger and actually have owned a couple of the parametric/graphic EQs (sold them when I realized I never used an EQ), in the original Technics brown. And I wouldn't mind having this system, even in this color, although I have no interest in tape any more. But one has to consider what the same money would buy in modern equipment.

Different. Unique. One of a kind.

Not certain how to react. No affect on sound...just on eyes.

With some colours on cars I think :p!

Q

I like the color, a bit too modern of a system for me but, if I had that much money to spend I would
have to spend it a little more wisely. ;)

Good news:
They are not too keen on weight conversions wrt precious metals. 5kg is about 160 Troy ounces the ounce that is traded. They converted to avoirdupois ounces which makes these two prices way different, ridiculous but different.
