Most Subaru owners that I’ve talked to were very happy with the way they hold up and drive ! Kia and the other Korean cars have a lot of issues , motor , trans high theft and insurance issues ! Some are ok a lot are not ! My daughters KIA soul has been good but my nephews wife’s Sonata was an oil burner after 60,000 blew an engine and even with their so called warrantee still cost 5k to replace the engine ! Sounds like you did ok ! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it !

Oh and my other nephews Hyundai was stolen out of my sisters driveway ! He now drives a cross track and loves it !

@ernieb1536 Thanks for the input. Our 2004 has been a real workhorse and has hauled a ton of stuff through 3 moves and endless miles. Sure, it's leaks oil like all good 2nd Gen Foresters and has definitely seen better days. But it still drives well and the seats, while they have taken a beating, are still comfortable. My wife likes to say they feel like you're sitting in your living room and I have to agree. In any case the deal is done and now it's fingers crossed we did OK. And I can understand the pushback on Carmax and Carvana (especially) for their inflated prices. But Carmax at least does a very good job of making sure the cars have been fixed where needed and ready to go, and at least I have a very good mechanic if needed.
