Would you pay 15$ for this tube console?

I don't have any experience with tubes. The seller is asking for 15$. Do you guys think it's worth to pull this amplifier ? According to seller turntable and amplifier are working. The pic with the schematic says stereo 18w per channel.

I think so, but I'm not an expert in valves amps. You will have to wait for a few mores answers, members like "jaymanaa" and others like him for instance.

Well, it looks like a two channel push pull amp with nice 4, 8 & 16 ohm taps. Interestingly, the power supply is on a separate chassis. While that is probably beneficial from a noise isolation perspective, it makes it a little harder to modify the amp for stand-alone use in a single chassis.

If you are looking for a project to learn about vacuum tube amps and how to repair/refurbish them, this would definitely do it.

What have you got to lose for $15?? You will certainly need to replace the power supply caps if nothing else.

This was a piece of junk even when it was new.

Tell us how much you can afford to spend on "ready to use" tube amp, and you will get plenty of recommendations on what makes sense to buy.

$15 for a stereo amp? What's not to like. You could fix it up, or use the tubes as spares.

I would definitely buy it for $15, probably even for twice that.

Tough crowd here. Gee!? All audio/no attitude-seems like a pleasant memory fading in the mist of time.
Sorry, but I think people sure are being hard-ons.
For 15 bucks, I'd certainly pick it up. It will be a good life experience and when you're done, the output tubes ought to be worth more than the purchase price.

If you can't find anything else, or you have a talent for cleanups and the patience to detail this, yes.

I would rather save and spend $150 for a good deal on a known commodity., but that is your call.

I'd buy it and flip it to pfcs49 for $30. :D

Seriously, yes I would buy it and convert it to a stand alone amp. Don't know what I would use it for after that, though. :scratch2:

Did everyone miss the Garrard record grinder in the top photo... for $15 you can walk away with $50 anyday... just by parting it out... it is by no means TOTL or "desirable" for the era, but if anything works you can get your money back out of it... and you can't buy a POS plant stand at WalMart for $15...

Its a Garrard 3000. Same thing used in the KLH mini systems that people like just fine. No, its not amazing, but its not like you're playing things on a hand crank Victrola either. If one wished to keep it intact, boot it out for an SL65, drop it right in the same hole, and you've got something thats not half bad.

15 bucks, absolutely. Its got more than $15 in parts in it. If you're looking for a learning experience, it doesn't get much cheaper than this.

I bought it and talked to the guy on the phone. My sister in law lives in the same city and will pick it up sometime this week, and I will have it in 2weeks or so. Should be a good learning experience :) . will keep you updated.

No. Unless you want to learn how to restore tube electronics and cabinetry. It would be a good learning experience.

Hope the TT motor works.

It's worth $15 just to get it and tear it apart and see what it's all about!

What's 15 bucks...a pizza? A new pair of Wrangler jeans at Walmart! haha. Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!
