your 10 albums - 2000-2009

I'm getting sad reading the release dates of some of these albums..this decade flew by. Actually, I now have to say 'that' decade flew by.

Wow...this is difficult...in no particular order:

Sleater-Kinney - The Woods
Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros - Streetcore
The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine
Belle & Sebastian - Push Barman To Open Old Wounds
Mary Timony - Ex Hex
The Decemberists - Hazards Of Love
The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Cat Power - You Are Free
She & Him - Volume One
Johnny Cash - American IV - The Man Comes Around

There's a whole lot I'm leaving out:

- every other S-K album released in the oughts
- every other Thermals album
- every other Decemberists album
- The White Stripes - Elephant
- Quasi - Hot ****!
- O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack
- Lyle Lovett - It's Not Big, It's Large
- Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures
- QotSA - Songs for the Deaf
- Mastadon - Crack the Skye
- Cat Power - The Greatest
- PJ Harvey - Stories of the City, Stories of the Sea
- My Brightest Diamond - A Thousand Sharks Teeth
- They Might Be Giants - No!
- They Might Be Giants - Mink Car

And finally, a song which has lodged itself in my brain over the last 6 years - "Look At Me" by The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players (off their Adventures in Middle America Vol 2 album).

I just remembered one that I should have included as I found it to be one of the simplest, most refreshingly original solo performances to arrive last decade. What a truly odd voice and she's amazing live. And I still listen to it all the time, which is more than I can say about most of the music good or bad that I bought over the years.

Joanna Newsome. The Milk-eyed Mender.

Another one I'd like to squeeze into my no-longer only 10 list,

Yo La Tengo. And then nothing turned itself inside out. (2000).

Top ten new releases from the decade just passed? Hmmmm....

Steely Dan...."Two Against Nature"
Steely Dan...."Everything Must Go"
Donald Fagen..."Morph The Cat"
Walter Becker.."Circus Money"
Diana Krall...."The Girl In The Other Room"
Sade......"Love Deluxe"
Rebecca Pidgeon..."Tough On Crime"
Bob Dylan...."Love And Theft"
Bob Dylan...."Modern Times"
I'd add the Madeline Peyroux releases...but then I'd be over ten. :(

My list in no particular order really:
