KLH Model 22 speakers

I have just picked up a pair of KLH Model 22 speakers in mint condition. Cabinets are great as is the grill cloth. Even the badges are like new. I have my babies connected to a Harman Kardon 730.

However, here is my question. At volume, the high notes sound a little tooo harsh, which surprises me. I do not think it is the 730 so I conclude it is the speakers.

How should they sound? I believe the caps are original so should I change them?
Any advice will be appreciated as I really want these speakers to perform to their original specs.

Try recaping the electrolytics in the crossovers before making any final decisions. alos make sure the woofers are working, no bass will make the highs harsh... Do not swap the tweeters, if you don't like the sound, sell and move on.

Be careful on these- the 22s are NOT made to handle high power. The voice coil on the woofer is only 3/4"... it's easy to blow them, and they CANNOT be rebuilt if so (no aftermarket coils fit).

But, with good caps, and within their limits, they sound really good...

Regards,
Gordon.

The woofers appear to be working. Should their be good bass?
Are these speakers worth keeping or should I move them on.
Finally, how do they compare to , say, AR 7's.
