I want/need a new coffee maker

I'm in a plant in Mexico with a Jura coffee maker that just kicks azz. Grinds and brews (to my taste) an almost perfect cup of crema coffee in about a minute. I think it's faster than the Kuerig thing I have at home for a "quick" fix.

I don't know what brand of coffee it is, but that's almost secondary. I have my favorite beans. I am not sure of the model, but am very interested in opinions. Would a Jura Impresa C9 be worth the cash? Or maybe another option??

One thing I do like is the ability to grind and brew coffee, cappuccino, and espresso in one machine all in about a minute or less. If I buy a new machine it has to be like that. Good and fast.

What say ye caffeine heads?

I had an older Jura E8 I got from a friend. I am NOT a coffee expert by any means. I do like my coffee black and strong. The E8 made excellent americanos and the single shot espresso were very good. I liked it alot.
The Jura was a hoot to watch in operation. Grind the coffee, packs it, brews, ejects the puck, and cleans itself in a smooth operation.
my only complaint on the Jura was the frothing wand. It would heat the milk fine but I could never get consistent fine froth that everybody likes.
The key to those machines is keep them clean!

Well, that's a $2,000 machine, so it had better be fairly good at producing a great cup of coffee, or else there are going to be a LOT of very upset coffee drinkers.

I too am not usually a fan of combo machines. For me, the simpler the better. Even my Espresso Machine is a basic Steamer from Braun with no pumper.

I lucked out on my drip coffee maker and stumbled upon a Calphalon outlet that was blowing out their high end $200 machines for $79. I haggled and they threw in a Calphalon Waffle Maker as a free bonus. I walked out very happy.

If, however, I was going to drop 2 grand on a coffee/espresso machine, that one would be in consideration.

Glad you like it.

I picked up a Delonghi Magnifica super automatic for $20 at a yard sale. It's needed a few o-rings here and there but if it ever dies I'll gladly pony up for a new one, which can be found for less than a $1k if you shop around. It makes a darn nice cup of joe with one touch of a button at 6:30am.

I despise the tepid water most of the new makers make. Anyways, my 26 year old Braun died yesterday,
so I ordered this Bonavita from Amazon. Hope it's a good as the reviews claim it is.

French press or bust. Coffee filters remove most of the goodness. Sure it takes longer to boil water, but damn is it worth it

I use a $12 cheapo Mr. Coffee machine. It boils water and drizzles it over ground up burnt coffee beans as well as any of them.:D:thmbsp:

It is. Excellent choice.

+1 on the french press. I have a Bodum. Use it to make coffee and chicory. (CDM brand to be exact.) Now that's a dark rich cup of coffee.

I have a technivorm Mocca Master drip coffee maker and love it. I also have a mesh filter, so no paper filters robbing the coffee of its full flavor.

I'm worse. I buy them at thrift shops and garage sales seeing as they never last more than 3 years anyways.

They make my Folger's just fine....

I have a Bodum as well. I generally get Tim Hortons coffee and grind it course. Not only is the coffee rich, but it doesn't rot the gut like filtered coffee. Much better tasting, too. Those oils the filter soaks up that the folks here are missing out on are the other 50% of the flavor they're missing

The trouble we had with the usual crap besides not lasting long like you say, is they also only make lukewarm coffee. :thumbsdn:

I have a Gelavia now with a thermal carafe; not hot plate to cook the coffee. I had a Krups with the same deal and liked that feature.

I usually only get a cup in the morning out the door and it's plenty hot. In fact, it's usually still warm when I get home 9+ hours later.

But hey, I'm a coffee savage. Cream and sugar and I regularly reheat the AM leftovers in the microwave :D

We do not give the coffee time to be cooked on the plate. We go through rather quickly.

I have been 95% pour over for the last several years and have been using a Chemex recently. It took some time to get used to, but now I really like it.
